An Agenda Delayed

After basically telling the American people that they wanted to punch us in the face, Democrat House Reps. have decided that the subtle approach may be more successful and less dangerous in achieving their ultimate goals, after all. Make no mistake; they still intend to punch us in the face, but they've opted for a more patient and circuitous route to that end, one that will deliver the twisted satisfaction they crave while avoiding the pitfalls and perils they unfortunately saw before they leaped.

Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) , The House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman, and Ed Markey (D-Mass.) had teamed up on a bill designed to make drastic cuts in CO2 emissions that would have crippled our already staggering economy. They are the pilots of the ship making headway toward the deadly "cap and trade" scheme that harbors in the port of Copenhagen. (Many who have not kept up on this subject, due to understandable distractions, probably are unaware that Copenhagen is the new Kyoto.)

Understanding the problems they may face in their quest - such as opposition from the fools they serve, as well as more vociferous objections from those they do not serve - Waxman and Markey realized that to get their mission accomplished, they must follow the liberal playbook to the letter, being certain not to alarm the masses. Baby steps are back in vogue in this volatile economic climate, and these two are nothing if not masters of deception.

As My Way News is reporting, the strategy now is to scale back overly ambitious guidelines in the hope of feeding the masses slowly, hoping that small portions will offer up little flavor and smaller clues as to the bitter taste of the result that must surely follow, albeit it in the form of a pre-antacid belch. In the hopes of getting a foot in the door this year (everything suddenly seems so urgent with the democrats), Waxman and Markey agreed to scale back the draconian requirements they originally sought, and which were endorsed by the president.

Fully realizing that an inch eventually yields a mile in the realm of federal government, compromises like this offer little angst for advocates such as Waxman and Markey other than the irritating frustration of not being instantly gratified. However, since many of their ilk are nearly guaranteed lifetime tenure, time is a luxury, and plans are better laid without a ticking clock. They can wait and still eat well.

Rest assured, however; one day, they definitely will deliver that punch in the face.

No Guts, No Gore

Actually there was Gore at the Congressional Subcommittee on Energy and the Environment hearings today on Capitol Hill, but conspicuously absent was any evidence of guts or intestinal fortitude exhibited by congressional democrats. Rep. Joe Barton (R-Texas), Ranking Member on the Energy & Commerce Committee, apparently had invited Lord Christopher Monckton to appear jointly with former vice president Al Gore at the hearings. The majority party balked when they learned of Monckton's intended participation in the hearings.

Monckton, a former science advisor to British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, has been a vocal critic of the claims of Al Gore and his fellow climate alarmists who continue to hawk the insane notion that Man is destroying the planet. He has challenged Gore to open debates and has been refused at every turn with the dismissive "the science is settled" argument and bogus claims of an imaginary "consensus" among the scientific community, which we have learned recently has begun to crumble like a house of cards in a stiff, CO2-induced breeze.

Earlier this week, Republican committee staff were informed by House democrats that they would be offering an "unnamed celebrity" as their star witness. According to ClimateDepot.com:

The "celebrity" witness turned out to be Gore. Monckton said the GOP replied they would respond to the Democrats' "celebrity" with an unnamed "celebrity" of their own. But Monckton claims that when the Democrats were told who the GOP witness would be, they refused to allow him to testify alongside Gore.
An update on the website states that democrats on the committee said "absolutely not" in regard to having Monckton appear alongside Gore.

On March 19th, 2007, Monckton issued a challenge to Al Gore to debate before a world-wide television audience. As part of that challenge, in a letter sent to the former vice president, Monckton said:
"A careful study of the substantial corpus of peer-reviewed science reveals that Mr. Gore's film, An Inconvenient Truth, is a foofaraw of pseudo-science, exaggerations, and errors, now being peddled to innocent schoolchildren worldwide."
He also called on Gore to:
"step up to the plate and defend his advocacy of policies that could do grave harm to the welfare of the world's poor. If Mr. Gore really believes global warming is the defining issue of our time, the greatest threat human civilization has ever faced, and then he should welcome the opportunity to raise the profile of the issue before a worldwide audience of billions by defining and defending his claims against a serious, science-based challenge".
And still Gore, comfy in his IPCC-bestowed Nobel Prize, ducked Monckton and would not debate on the basis that his award was all the validation he needed to claim victory. The world populace be damned; Oslo and the UN had spoken.

Elected congressional democrats agreed and shut Monckton out of the conference today, waiting until he had de-planed to break the news to him. The alleged party of freedom of speech and liberty has determined autonomously that the people need hear no more than the rantings of a lunatic who is also part of their cloistered club.

As ironic as that descriptive term may be, irony seems to define the democrat party.

The U.N. And The Snake Oil Salesman Exposed

This argument has been raging between the deniers and the purveyors of anthropogenic global warming for years now, and it's always been about whether the motives were genuinely noble or covertly nefarious. Now the proverbial cat is out of the bag, as Fox News has unearthed a United Nations document on climate change that will be distributed next week to a contingent of cronies who share that body's vision of a "new world economy".

According to Fox News, the document outlines the pending disaster preachers' planned machinations that will "likely [involve] trillions of dollars in wealth transfer, millions of job losses and gains, new taxes, industrial relocations, new tariffs and subsidies, and complicated payments for greenhouse gas abatement schemes and carbon taxes — all under the supervision of the world body."

These are the projected consequences that will arise from the implementation of the Copenhagen Accord, a dressed up "improvement" on the Kyoto Treaty, which the United States has thus far rejected. The bad news is, President Obama has already signaled that he is in favor of this abomination. Perhaps that is why the U.N. has been so careless with this document that Fox discovered its existence. They may feel that, with his perceived popularity, Obama will be able to singe-handedly abet in the restructuring of the global economy. They underestimate the American people. I just hope that enough of them learn of this cabal since the mainstream media will probably largely ignore its significance.

In other news, Al Gore has also tipped his hand. On his "lecture and slide-show tours", he promotes investments in products that will benefit him personally. After telling his audiences that we must change our laws as well as our light bulbs, and calling for prohibitive taxes on carbon, he shows on screen some companies that people should invest in and acknowledges that he "has a stake" in them. In the video below - which is a long one - you can watch him at the fifteen minute mark go into sales-pitch mode.

Somewhat related to all of this is the fact that Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann has introduced a resolution that would prevent the U.S. dollar from being replaced by a multi-national currency. This is in response to calls from China, Russia and other countries calling on the International Monetary Fund to look into that very thing. Chris Matthews of Hardball indirectly called her crazy and paranoid, saying, "It's not clear why she did it since nobody on the planet, least of [all] here in America, is talking about switching to some new multi-national currency here." Maybe someone should direct his attention to the news of the U.N. document.

I have complained for years that leftists in this country and around the globe have been creeping out of the shadows and telling us what they plan to do. Now they are shouting it from the rooftops and yet still insist on telling us we're imagining things when we rail against their telegraphed intentions. For that reason, I am going to say this loud and clear and people can choose to believe me or believe that everything will be just fine.

The U.N., Al Gore et al, and developing countries around the world who have always been envious of America and successful western nations, are absolutely planning to change this world by making every country virtually equal in the misery-sharing index.

Do not let that happen.
