Surviving the Referendum
The Tea Party has endured and defeated the most vitriolic campaign the so-called mainstream media could unleash. Never once did they think to back down, to give up, to throw up their hands and accept the seeming futility of it all. Perhaps the reason for such truculence and perseverance was always the mantel of truth. And our preferred candidates felt it.
The leftist networks and cable shows did not receive the message last night in the aftermath of the drubbing their party took, continuing to use ridicule and false bravado as a tool to defeat those who had already vanquished them. Chris Matthews of Hardball on MSNBC, along with those on his panel, interviewed Michele Bachmann after polls closed in Minnesota's 6th C.D. Bachmann, a favorite target of Liberal pundits and a Tea Party darling and beneficiary, infuriated host Matthews by reminding him of his "thrill-up-his-leg" moment in the Obama ascendancy.
Matthews and company predictably laughed like school children at her performance during the interview, further exposing the juvenile mentality that permeates the halls of Liberal enclaves such as MSNBC. But Matthews' irritation was clearly evident. Score another one for Bachmann and - as a result - all of us. (Matthews' indignant retort was one of pure semantics because Bachmann used the word "tingle" instead of thrill).
While last night was a time of jubilation for us - the American patriots fed up with lectures and heavy-handed "compassion" from the people we hire to serve us - the underlying message was still clear from the coasts and other liberal bastions. The politicians most responsible for our successful activism were left unscathed. That may prove beneficial to us as we traverse the next 733 days until the presidential elections, but is disappointing nonetheless.
Outgoing Speaker Nancy Pelosi will still be a House Representative, although not as Speaker, and Harry Reid will retain his position as Senate Majority Leader. However, the disappointment of those results should be seized as the fuel we need to continue the fight. Just as comfort and complacency were concerns going into yesterday's polls, so must we remain alert to the sad truth that those regions will never be transformed. But they can be isolated.
How many times over the past decade have we heard the snobbish denigration by elitist politicians of rural America as "fly-over" country? That characterization is not about to change, despite the fact that "fly-over" country just handed them the sort of drubbing bested only once in our brief history. I say let them have their Liberal encampments on the distant shores, and let them fly over to their hearts' content.
They had their shot, and they failed miserably, but never assume that the war is over. You (we) have awakened a spirit that has been too long dormant in this greatest nation on Earth, and as I wrote on Election eve, politics is far from a gentlemanly sport. We have already demonstrated our immunity to their sharp-tongued barbs. We have already proved the worth of our beliefs, and we have shown that theirs is a house of cards. But vigilance is not to be abandoned now.
There is still the specter of the lame-duck damage the bitter losers from yesterday may inflict upon us. And we have so much to undo as we move forward. Do not take the olive branch being offered, and never assume that their contrition is genuine. Just as a defeated combatant seeks to lure you in by exploiting your compassionate nature, only to bury a concealed brick in your head, so will Liberal Progressives attempt to use the Ju-Jitsu philosophy against you.
Yesterday was a clear referendum on the policies of our current government, despite what the President may say. You did this. You succeeded. Don't wipe your hands and feel that the job is done now. Stay fired up and vigilant for the next contest. They will be numerous and forthcoming.
Nevertheless, great job yesterday. I am proud today. Sphere: Related Content

Unintended Transparency and the Toxic Champion
Quite the opposite. Pelosi and Reid had a head start on Obama, two years of putting the final nail in the coffin of George W. Bush's legacy. After gaining back control of Congress, the new
Speaker and the new Majority Leader not only failed to drain the swamp, they restocked it. The coercion and bribery became rampant, and only became worse once Obama was sworn in as President.
Congress brought out the hatchets and began frantically dismantling the economy of the Bush years, setting the plate for Obama to ride in and pretend to be the savior. Claiming the utmost urgency in fixing "what Bush had wrought", careful planning and openness became casualties of reckless velocity and sleight of hand maneuvering. Assuming that the people would recognize the necessity of broken promises on the most base level, the destruction we have witnessed since thus proceeded at dizzying speed.
Then something amazing happened; people began to awaken. They began to observe. They began to learn. Ultimately, they became very angry.
Perhaps elected politicians took for granted that the vast majority of the American people have for decades been preoccupied by managing their personal lives and have not been acutely engaged in politics or politicians. That complacency most likely lulled the politicians into a sense of omnipotence, and they believed that it was finally time to pull the trigger and fundamentally alter the composition of America. They quickly discovered that they were dead wrong.
The unintended consequence of their collective hubris became the eventual fruition of their empty promises. While they assumed we'd accept wax paper over the windows because you can almost see through it, we ripped it down and walked inside. To their horror, we were no longer in the role of casual observer; we were demanding answers.
The rash of You Tube recordings of town hall meetings - and the subsequent reactions of the members of Congress on the receiving end of America's ire - were a tease, starter fuel in the coming barbecue. The Internet - still a free-speech venue as of this writing - has been instrumental in this collective epiphany, so it is small wonder that the perpetrators have begun to plant the seeds of doubt in the minds of the gullible that nothing on the web is true. We're told that only the state-run media can be trusted.
The state-run media has sold its soul and surrendered all claims to credibility. More and more people every day are abandoning that sinking ship out of a realization that those outlets are merely perpetuating the lie. The incumbents, despite all of their false bravado, know that their days are numbered. There is nothing that can save them at this stage beyond a successful marketing of more lies, a prospect that seems dismal, at best.
The president is toxic, and they all know it. He may travel to quietly raise donations for them, but none wishes to be associated with him, and he is powerless to go out and actively stump for them. How ironic that after such a short time in paradise, the hope is gone. The change is coming, though. Coming fast. Somehow, however, I doubt this will be what the Democrats had in mind. They Can Hear Us Now - And They Are Desperate!
Written by SleeplessByTheSea
Astroturf
Domestic terrorists
Paid political hacks
The more than a million peaceful marchers, that were reported as a few thousand.
Obama wasn't aware of the 912 March on DC.
It is all about race.
Yeah Right.
They have tried their best to ignore the American patriots that have gathered together across our nation. They tried to belittle the second coming of the Boston Tea Party, by calling us nasty little names like "tea baggers". But, those tactics have not worked. They've not slowed down the momentum of the patriots that love their freedom enough to fight for it. Instead, the movement is growing. They are losing ground on their effort to destroy our great nation. Their time in power is limited, and they know it.
I can speak of first hand knowledge of tea parties and their rallies, because I not only attended and participated in rallies locally, but I've marched right down Pennsylvania Ave, right to the Capitol, along with my fellow citizens that want to preserve our constitution. I have yet to read from any national source the real story. The story about how these citizens are out there fighting peacefully for their love of country....their love of freedom, and their demand that our constitution be upheld.
We sang songs like 'God Bless America' & 'The Star Spangled Banner'. We chanted for congress to stop the spending, and the 'kill the bill'. We've listened to speakers echo our own feelings about needing less government, not more. Could someone please tell me what is threatening about that?
I'm tired of the media lying to people. I'm tired of paid democrats lying to the people. They lie about their agenda. They lie about what is in the bills they pass. They lie about what goes on at these 'Tea Parties'. You ask, why do they lie? Because they are scared! They know the sleeping giants are finally wide awake.
We've already made a difference in some of the gubernatorial races. We made a difference in Massachusetts. And they know we're going to make a huge difference in November.
They see Obama's numbers dropping. They know he's going to be a one term president. But, the really sad thing is, so many of these people are still blinded by their own politics, that they cannot see that their party is also destroying their freedom. You've heard their talking points on all of the tv new/talk
shows.....they smile real big, and spin away from any little details they don't want to face.
They tell you, that this is intended to 'help' you. Never mind it will cost you an arm and a leg, to end up with perhaps a whole lot worse medical care than you've ever had in your life. They even have the audacity to say now, that no...you won't be forced to take their health care insurance. Although, if you don't have insurance, you will be fined by the IRS. Yeah, well, what happens to you if you don't pay that fine? You don't tell the IRS, no. They know that. (well, you can tell the IRS no, if you are Timothy Geithner. Geeez) And now they are talking about a National sales tax? Where do they think all of this money is going to come from? Wake up, dems. There is no bottomless pit!
It's Racist? Give me a break! Okay...so which half of Obama are they protesting? Good grief! And, I was not aware that congress was solely one race, either. When did that happen? And why do we have tea party patriots of all shapes, sizes, age, and color if it is about race? It doesn't pass the logic test.
Their defense is weak. It's lame. It's more lies. But, desperate people do desperate things. I know there will be more lies and deceptions to come. But, November is just around the corner, and I'm proud to say I am part of those 'rogue' Americans that attend tea parties, and I'll be helping everyone I know get to the polls, so we can begin to clean out this mess, and start our path back to what we are suppose to be.....A country for the people, by the people! A country founded for freedom to ring!
Oh, yeah...they hear us now....and they are running scared!

Speed Kills
It may be a combination of things converging all at once, be it Obama's relatively youthful exuberance and his desire to succeed immediately, coupled with his lack of experience in actual accomplishment, or it could be interpreted as something far more sinister, such as a diabolical plan for the ultimate ruination of America. Which, I am incapable of discerning, which is why I write. Mine is a mission of thought provocation, designed to stimulate the thought processes of the reader and to trigger cognizance. To be honest, if you're already reading here, you are pre-engaged anyway.
We have all seen the billboards prominently displayed on the roads across America, the ones with the [whichever] State Trooper propped up against his patrol car, speaking into his radio mic, and the words "Speed Kills" just above or below the picture. Those are ad campaigns designed to get drivers to slow down and reduce road fatalities.
More often than not it is the driver who is killed, along with any passengers who may be on board. So it is with Obama driving a bus loaded with giddy congressional Democrats, feeling as invincible as the teen just embarking on life's journey. Their current domination of the political process is responsible for that feeling, and they can't envision the bus slamming into a tree at high velocity.
Somehow mesmerized by Obama, Democrats are so eager to pass dubious and disastrous health care reform this year that they are poised to commit political suicide. How they cannot see this is incomprehensible, for even if they do nothing else this year, they are still facing trouble in 2010, according to Charlie Cook, who is already predicting a possible net loss in the House of Representatives in excess of 20 seats.
Of course, Congress never does "do nothing", and Democrats have a peculiar penchant for self-inflicted wounds, so it is small wonder that they are preparing for triage. Since Obama has successfully ginned up Democrats with the promise of finally reaching their long-sought after goal of social utopia, i.e., Universal Health Care, they have become blinded by their pending euphoria.
Attempting to assuage the concerns of the people over the cost of reform - I prefer to call it lying - Obama is presenting himself as fiscally responsible by insisting that his plan for health care will be "deficit neutral". People, however, particularly those at Tea Parties and Town Halls, know that all that means is that someone is going to have to pay for it. If you are broke but still want that $5,000 home theater system, and you refuse to go into debt to get it, the only option is to receive it as a gift or...have someone else pay for it.
Perhaps he's been deliberately desensitizing the people to his numerous broken promises in the hope that by the time he breaks the promise of no new taxes, we'll be so used to it that his loss of political capital will be minute. Since government is certainly not going to receive health care reform as a gift, that means that they'll need someone else to pay for it; that would be us.
Completing the recipe for disaster, the Democrats are inching closer to employing the "nuclear option", whereby the majority party locks the opposition out of the process. In other words, Democrats are preparing to ram universal health care down our throats all by themselves without Republicans voting, thus owning the debacle. That is something the people will remember in an election year and something the Republicans will be sure to remind us of next year.
Such an act of betrayal by elected officials will most assuredly make Charlie Cook's current estimate look extremely conservative in scope.
