He's No Jimmy Carter; He's Worse, and More Dangerous

No amount of warning was sufficient.

In 1979 I was a young man, and even then, I thought I had lived through the worst president I could imagine. Who could possibly be worse than Jimmy Carter, I wondered. And then 2008 rolled around before I even saw it coming.

Despite my repeated warnings -- not to mention those of far more influential figures than me -- this man with virtually no experience, save for a scant few years of service in national politics, rose to achieve not only the Democratic nomination for president, but was actually elected. If any who voted for him would even bother to listen, I would ask how that is working out.

It's been five years with this man as president, and we have seen ample evidence of both his naivete and sinister sides, at least for those of us who may still be awake. So many of our fellow countrymen have been so bamboozled by this charlatan that the hopes of our own insomnia may be moot, but I will attempt -- once again -- to elucidate those who fail to see the truth.

Going in, I understand that many of the starry-eyed have been deprived of history by our State-run school systems and, therefore, bear little culpability in their ignorance. But I hope they listen to a bit of reason before they are completely lobotomized by the continuing "education" offered by the main stream media.

For starters, Barack Hussein Obama became president on the slimmest of resumes possible. That much should give even the brain dead pause. Think about that; do some research and find another President of the United States in the history of America with less experience, and then think of who makes the decisions today on our behalf, both domestically and globally.

Right out of the box in 2009, Obama rushed over to Egypt to apologize to Muslims for America's poor behavior in the past, vowing to build a new relationship with them. Our newly elected President actually told a foreign audience that we Americans have been arrogant, a radical departure from previous presidents. And for all the talk by Democrats of the alleged damage done in the Middle East by George W. Bush, there is virtual silence today from Democrats and the media (pardon my redundancy) over the actual damage done by Obama.

Libya is a mess, courtesy of Obama's meddling. Syria is in flames, thanks to Obama's incitements, and Iran is on the verge of having nuclear weapons and annihilating Israel once and for all, all because Obama is seen across the Middle East as weak.

Obama also doubled down on the horrendous last act of George W. Bush, the stimulus program. Since then, he has been ripping through America's bank account like Grant took Richmond. In the five years that Obama has been president, the Senate has not passed one budget, relying instead on a series of continuing resolutions, keeping the spending alive and keeping America on a perpetual state of nervousness as the "fiscal cliff" is always within arms reach.

The mainstream media has abandoned journalistic integrity to the point of complicity in a series of lies and scandals. Fast and Furious, Benghazi, potential voter fraud in 2012, the IRS scandal, NSA spying, all of these have been pooh-poohed by the one organization that is supposed to be the peoples' watchdog, the press. The federal government is stockpiling weapons and ammunition at an alarming rate, and for agencies like NASA and the Social Security Administration who should have no reasonable need to be heavily armed. And the media is completely incurious, even to the point of hostility to those who demand answers.

And the latest adventure, the government shutdown, showed the country what a petty tyrant we have as our president, yet many people remain unconvinced. Last year, the Occupy Whatever movement was hailed by the Left as a noble uprising of the people, and our government moved to protect their rights whenever possible. During the shutdown, however, the boy king, in a fit of foot-stomping rage, rushed to erect barricades to keep World War II veterans away from a memorial that many of them had come to see for possibly the last time in their lives. The National Park Service (NPS) had police in riot gear confront the visitors, perhaps trying to invoke a violent response.

And in the middle of the turmoil, the NPS -- along with Nancy Pelosi and some other congress critters -- had a welcoming committee in one of the closed parks for an illegal alien protest.

As the debt ceiling deadline drew closer, Obama was warning that Social Security benefits, military pay, and school budgets could be jeopardized, but never mentioned anything about possibly ceasing aid to foreign countries or stalling the food stamp program. No, your benefits that you earned would suffer, but if you're getting it for free, no worries. Obama knows who votes for him.

Folks, we are being figuratively beaten down slowly and surely until the King decides that we are ready for full surrender, of that I no longer have any doubt. I will not be surprised in 2017 if Obama must be forcibly removed from the White House.

Right Up in Your Grille

A Method to the Madness

In the movie Hunt for Red October, there was a famous scene in which Captain Ramius (Sean Connery), shocked his crew by turning into the path of a torpedo fired from a Soviet submarine. The horrified crew thought that Ramius -- who was thought by this time to be deranged and suicidal -- meant to end his life along with the rest of the members of the Red October.  Ramius knew that the Soviet commanders used a timing device on torpedo warheads, and thus knew that by closing the distance instead of attempting to flee meant that the torpedo would bounce harmlessly off the hull before it could arm itself.

It was a brilliant tactic, and one I have thought of recently considering the machinations of the Obama regime in light of the spate of scandals besieging it. But then I thought that the analogy was a bit off kilter since Ramius was a Capitalist raised in a Marxist world and Obama is a Marxist raised in a Capitalist world. And then the philosophy of political Ju Jitso kicked in, and I realized that Obama is not nearly as out of the loop as he would have us believe. Brilliant tactics emanate from this administration, and whether they are the brain trusts of Obama himself or the works of those close to him, the fact remains that we are all being played for fools.

The IRS scandal came to light because the IRS itself leaked a planted question designed to bring it all out in the open. The media dutifully plastered the emerging scandal all over it's duly outraged pages, and then quickly moved to dismiss the story as old news, thinking it had placated the majority of casual news consumers. It was not a bad calculation, since most people have already moved beyond the stories significance in favor of the latest Justin Bieber news.

All of this was cleverly designed to deflect the increasing scrutiny bestowed on the Benghazi hearings toward a scandal much more easily manageable. Who is discussing Benghazi now? And just in case Congress decides to ramp up that particular conversation again,  Obama has just turned into the torpedo by promoting Victoria Nuland to assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs.

Nuland played a major role in the editing of the official Benghazi talking points in the immediate aftermath of the September 11, 2012 attacks on an American consulate that left Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans dead. She expressed concern over the mention of terrorists -- particularly the mention of al Qaida operatives -- in the final report to be presented to the public.

Like Ramius, Obama knows that the tactic of turning into the torpedo will only work once. The opposition will quickly recalculate and attack again, this time with a better chance at success. He got lucky in the Senate, though...he's got Republican allies who will add credibility to this promotion.

RINOs McCain and Graham

Non-wacko birds John McCain and Lindsay Graham -- both Republicans -- have endorsed the promotion of Nuland. These two turncoats have also endorsed Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's attempts to raise the debt ceiling on a 50 percent vote, knowing that the Democrat controlled Senate can shed five members in the vote and still win.

And now I shall risk an IRS audit by saying plainly that it is time for the TEA Party to get back in the game. It is time for true patriots to rally behind and defend our Constitution. Our government is not only defying the will of its people, they are doing it in bold fashion, or as the vernacular goes, "getting up in our grilles". 2014 is just around the corner, perhaps jostling with the tyranny that resides there. It's time we forget the level of allure of a particular candidate, and start throwing the relics who have ruined our country out of their comfortable chairs in Congress.

Reset the torpedoes, boys.

American Values with a Delicious Crispy Coating

For many Americans after the frightening gains of the Progressive movement since Barack's election, 2012 may have seemed like the ebb of our nation, much like the autumnal radiance of a receding sun on the horizon casts long, lugubrious shadows on the ground before us. It was almost as though our greatness was dying out like a spent candle, time rapidly becoming a traitorous former ally we curse as the darkness envelopes us.

Then spring and summer happened, along with a brutal Republican primary contest, from which Mitt Romney emerged -- relatively unscathed -- as our presumptive nominee. Not everyone was thrilled at the outcome, but since the inevitable has become evident, people have accepted it with a sense of calm. That is good for our side in this fight. Aiding in that acceptance, though, has been a campaign run by Romney's people done well combined with an Obama campaign seemingly designed to unmask the incumbent and his agenda.

Perhaps Obama and his handlers thought that theirs was a populist agenda that was ready for a full unveiling, and if so, it was a grave miscalculation. There may be no better indicator of such a miscue as the Chick-fil-A dust-up. I know I run the risk of annoying several gay friends by this writing, but they know well my heart and will only take umbrage at the words.

That being said, yesterday was "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day", and it seems that the heart of America voted with their appetites. Reports coming in indicate that the lines at local restaurants were long and persistent. People all across America were expressing their support for traditional American values, but in a broader sense than most observers may have suspected.

What happened at Chick-fil-A restaurants around the country yesterday was nothing less than a testament to the values a majority of Americans still hold dear, despite the appearance that we had long ago gone into hibernation. No, this entire affair had nothing at all to do with gay marriage -- except perhaps peripherally -- and everything to do with the tolerance that is lacking on the left. And more importantly, it demonstrated that Americans are not nearly as ready as many believed to accept a tyrannical government.

Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy was asked a question in an interview about gay marriage and he answered honestly. His religious belief is that marriage traditionally is between one man and one woman. It is a belief that most Americans still share, despite the distorted demographics portrayed in the main stream media (MSM). Cathy did not shout or demagogue in his answer, he simply stated his belief, and even though he has never refused service to gays nor discriminated against them in hiring, he's been labelled as a "hater".

Lines Around Chick-fil-A on 8/1/12

That's bad enough and, sadly, almost to be expected in this toxic political world in which we live, but the real trouble started when mayors of major cities began to target the restaurant for banishment because of a simple statement by its CEO. The response of ordinary Americans yesterday was to deliver the chain's highest single-day revenue intake ever.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel was threatening to block efforts by Chick-fil-A to build any more restaurants in the city, saying, "Chick-fil-A’s values are not Chicago values. They’re not respectful of our residents, our neighbors and our family members. And if you’re gonna be part of the Chicago community, you should reflect Chicago values." Yet, in the same week, the "godfather" welcomed Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan and his minions to help curb the rampant violence on Chicago streets, and no one in the MSM bothered to notice that Farrakhan has been militantly anti-gay, nor recognized the hypocrisy of such a blatant anti-Christian agenda in the face of such warm Muslim acceptance.

The people politely waiting in line at Chick-fil-A restaurants around America yesterday noticed, though, and they have proven that the subversive sub-culture apparently "leading" our nation at the moment is destined to fail in November.

The American people are ready to follow the TEA Party -- or even lead it -- back to the values that most of us still embrace but had for too long taken for granted, and election day could become a most bitter pill for the current controllers.

As for the issue of gays and marriage, please understand, finally, that the masses don't hate you or wish you harm. After all, we've always known you were there and only recently -- metaphorically speaking -- learned to stop tormenting you. Many of us favor some form of civil union that provides for visitation and will rights, but we will never accept marriage. If we can get you the same benefits without the title, would that be enough?

For the friends I mentioned earlier, I'd wager that it would be, for it is for that reason that I love them. There is no militancy in their desires, and no resistance in mine, we simply love one another and let it be. If the rest of the "community" could grasp that simple concept, imagine the harmony we could enjoy.

Meanwhile, it must be noted that what we saw yesterday is but the tip of what I believe we'll see in 96 days. For all of the premature obituaries offered up by the MSM regarding the TEA Party, there will be many more demonstrations like yesterday to prove them wrong in the coming months. We the people have had our fill of the "progressive" agenda. The only difference now is, we're finally prepared to show it.

Get ready to wake up, America.

A Study in Irony: The DHS

Domestic Terrorists?

It's probably a good thing that time travel is not possible because if our Founding Fathers could be here today, they would most likely wind up being hauled off to Guantanamo Bay. 

In January of this year, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released a $12 million study outlining their stance on domestic terrorism and potential threats. The study -- that you and I paid for -- was conducted by the following:

On page nine of the pdf report, the first group identified as a possible terror threat is "the extreme right wing", and the reasoning is astounding. (The irony of it all will be self evident very soon, I promise). Here is the paragraph detailing why we -- the right wing -- are a threat to our beloved nation:

Extreme Right-Wing: groups that believe that one’s personal and/or national “way of life” is under attack and is either already lost or that the threat is imminent (for some the threat is from a specific ethnic, racial, or religious group), and believe in the need to be prepared for an attack either by participating in paramilitary preparations and training or survivalism. Groups may also be fiercely nationalistic (as opposed to universal and international in orientation), anti-global, suspicious of centralized federal authority, reverent of individual liberty, and believe in conspiracy theories that involve grave threat to national sovereignty and/or personal liberty.

There is something really wrong here -- a fact that must make me a threat in and of itself -- that needs to be examined, so I thought we'd take each "charge" one by one.

- People who believe their "way of life" is under attack. For as long as I can remember, the American way of life has been pretty free with a minimum of government involvement. The Pledge of Allegiance was seen as a patriotic act, and loving our blessed country was a proud emotion. Considering that our own president seems to think America so bad it needed "fundamental alterations", yeah, I'd say my way of life is under attack. Call me kooky.

- People who are "fiercely nationalistic" (as opposed to universal and international in orientation). For me, personally, there are some nice places in the rest of the world I suppose, and they're free to operate as they see fit, but as Dorothy would say, there's no place like home. And if believing that America is the greatest place to be -- as millions of immigrants have declared over the years -- is somehow wrong these days, see the first item and slap the cuffs on me now.

- People who are anti-global. See the second item, which is somewhat similar, but ostensibly this one deals with the threat of eroded American sovereignty. Well, when I have alleged leaders and judicial folks who continue to allow the encroachment of foreign ideals into our own, or court decisions that rely on foreign law, I get a little creeped out over American sovereignty being watered down. In my world, America doesn't join the parade, it leads. Sue me.

- People who are "suspicious of centralized federal authority". Wait a minute...so was Ronald Reagan a domestic terrorist? Are all 50 states being governed by potential threats to Homeland Security? Should the SS go and arrest Ron Paul this instant? We've already witnessed quite enough of centralized federal authority, thank you, and it has not been at all good. I guess I need a hide-out now.

And, last but not least, my personal favorite...

- People who are reverent of individual liberty, and believe in conspiracy theories that 
involve grave threat to national sovereignty and/or personal liberty. Uh, hello?? Millions of illegal aliens (that one will alert the authorities!) streaming across our border while the federal government sues border states to stop trying to stop them? Is that my imagination running wild? How about Fast and Furious? Is that one a crazy conspiracy, too? And somehow I'm weird if I revere individual liberty, really? In America?!? All I can say is Janet Napolitano better get a SWAT team over here double-time, because right after my wife, kids and grandkids, individual liberty is right up there on my right-wing whack-job list of loves.

So, as I walk off into the sunset with my knuckles dragging behind, I'd like to wish my readers a very Happy Independence Day. If we don't use the power of the ballot box this November, it could be the last one. Try not to celebrate too enthusiastically, it may get you in hot water.

Some Movement Comparisons

Actions Speak Louder Than Words

As the Occupy Wall Street movement drags on and on, there are the inevitable comparisons to the TEA Party movement by various talking heads both on television and radio. Perhaps the most glaring difference between the two, however, is the way Democrats and the media treat each.

With the TEA Party rallies, the media routinely tried to downplay the size of the crowds, while the Democrats and liberal critics continually try to portray the movement as comprised of white racists, all with virtually no evidence of any such thing. Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi just the other day reiterated the lie that TEA Party activists spit on black congressmen in the aftermath of the health care vote. Meanwhile, Andrew Breitbart is still waving that $100,000 reward for anyone who can provide audio or video evidence of such an event.

In the aftermath of the 9/12 TEA Party event in Washington DC, the only evidence that such a large rally took place was the neatly placed Hefty bags full of trash left near receptacles for parks employees to collect. In contrast, New York City officials averted a potential riot on Friday by postponing a scheduled cleaning of Zuccotti Park in Manhattan, where Occupy Wall Street protesters have been soiling the grounds for the past three weeks. In honor of their perceived "victory", the protesters promptly began scuffling with police and getting themselves arrested.

There have been no arrests at any TEA Party rallies to date. And as the photo above clearly demonstrates, the TEA Party group reveres the American flag, while the leftist "occupants" see the flag as a canvass for their ridiculous slogans. If one more person tells me that one exercising his "right to desecrate the flag" is patriotic, I may blow an artery.

An Endorsement the
TEA Party would reject 

While most clear-thinking Americans support the TEA Party and its smaller government objectives, the Occupy Wall Street movement has just picked up the support of two groups that the TEA Party would flat out reject, despite the claims of the left to the contrary.

Gateway Pundit recently reported that both the American Nazi Party and the Communist Party USA have expressed solidarity with the "occupiers", with the CPUSA once again aligning themselves with Barack Hussein Obama. The CPUSA endorsed Obama for president in 2008, and Obama is seeking to capitalize on the Occupy movement for his reelection.

We all know that Obama is no fan of America. He's made that clear by his Forgive Us Our Trespasses Tour shortly after his inauguration. But for him to align himself with a movement that sings songs like "F*** the USA" just speaks volumes about his national fidelity.

Yes, a website named Verum Serum has posted a lovely little video of some Portland Occupants singing the lovely little ditty mentioned above. While participants at TEA Party rallies routinely sing the Star Spangled Banner or listen to Lee Greenwood sing God Bless the U.S.A., the cretins who are now backed by Nazis, Communists and Obama sing of their loathing for our country. The video is below, but be aware that -- as incoherent as the "band" appears to be, there is still graphic language involved.

The irony is that they are singing this in the United States of America, where such actions are protected by the very military these sots loathe. I would like to see this band succeed, go on tour, and perform in Iran where they can change the hook line in the song to match the country in which they sing, which is common practice among touring bands. Please, jester-head, go to Tehran and sing F*** the Ayatollah. When your body returns to the blessed USA, we promise to take lots of pictures.

Whenever liberals get their knickers in a wad over having their patriotism questioned, we will always be available to direct them back toward such disgusting displays as this video. Meanwhile, the TEA Party will always love and fight for America.

Why Did the Turtle Cross the Road?

How much would you pay to save him?

Perhaps the most obvious answer to the title question would be, "because he hadn't yet received taxpayer money to safely traverse it underneath".

As our country grapples with a severe debt, the in-your-face debate revolves around the question of where to cut spending. Politicians and pundits hand-wring while claiming to understand the angst of the American people in general, and the Tea Party in particular, pretending to understand that concern but not quite grasping the concept.

The Liberal reaction to our demands of less spending is to demagogue and vilify. "Why do you hate children?" and "Why do you want to kill seniors?" are common taunts, when any sane person realizes that they are ridiculous accusations. Yet, the easily shamed are quickly tamed, and acquiesce to the demands of more spending without question. And they are so easily fooled.

For example, it is common for politicians to claim a reduced increase in spending is a "cut". It doesn't matter to the average Joe - who garners all of his knowledge from thirty second sound bites on television - that spending of his hard earned taxes is still going up. If it involves a "cause" he's been conditioned to endorse, he'll only "know" that the bad guys "slashed" funding for it.

One must wonder if that same person would feel like he's getting a bargain if he had to pay more for a product he frequently purchases if the price increase was suddenly 50% less than the purveyor intended. For example, let's say that "Joe" buys a widget every week, and it's always been a dollar. One day he walks in and it's three dollars, but the store is having a half-off sale. Will he realize that since last week, the price tripled, or will he be happy that with the "sale", he's only paying 50% more?

Likewise, when talk of eliminating actual spending amounts to a paltry "few million" dollars, politicians dismiss the notion as meaningless, a drop in the bucket. But leave a bucket under a dripping gutter and see how fast it fills up. The leak responsible for that drip needs to be repaired, just as tax dollars spent on turtle tunnels and the like need to stop immediately. If someone has that much passion for the plight of turtles, they can raise the money on their own and dig the damn tunnels by hand. (The money would be needed for permits to dig on federal property, after all).

Earmarks, the "pet projects" of Congress people, continue for the very reason that politicians dismiss their impact on the overall debt and deficit. Each to its own, they seem insignificant, but add drops to that bucket that soon overflows. And they are wasteful, albeit very nice gestures for a genuine philanthropist. To steer precious public funding (confiscated earnings) toward them must end.

A little spending here, a little there...

Case in point: in 2007, amid debates in Congress over desperately needed infrastructure repairs on highways and bridges that were crumbling, Democratic Rep. Henry Waxman of California secured $550,000 of transportation money to build a boat in Los Angeles that would never sail. In fact, it would never touch water. Known as "Noah's Ark",  it was part of a project called the Skirball Cultural Center, a private charity in Los Angeles. The charity's director, Uri Herscher, reportedly went to Waxman, and Waxman directed the funds in the form of an earmark.

No big deal, Waxman later countered, it was small change. “The amount of money that the Skirball got for this project was very, very small. It was $550,000," Waxman said. True, but Waxman is only one of 435 members of the House, and it is unknown how many other "small" projects like this he "gave" to through the unknowing generosity of the American taxpayer.

With all of that in mind, let's examine the actuality of the $38 billion in FY2011 spending cuts that Speaker Boehner is touting today. Shortly after the vote, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) calculated the true savings at $350 million, with an "m". That's right, million...small change in the eyes of Congress when it refers to spending rather than cutting.

Most of the cuts the CBO projects are from monies that were previously allocated but unspent, and relegated to remain that way. And the total savings do not take place in the remaining six months, but rather in the next five years, stretching out to 2016. FY2012 is only six months away. If Boehner and his members can't do better in the next round of budget negotiations, we are in serious trouble, and so is the Republican party.

I feel like the proverbial turtle crossing the road. Why do I do it? To get to the Tea Party.

The Cain Mutiny

The "Moses" of our Time?

If there is one unalterable truth in America, it would be that Blacks are expected - no, commanded - to vote for Democrats. To violate that edict would be viewed as a form of sacrilege amongst ones peers, and criminal in the eyes of the elite hierarchy.

While Barack Obama was not the first Black candidate for president of the United States, he was certainly the first to garner the support he needed beyond the demographic guaranteed under conventional expectancy. Obama enjoyed the support of an entire segment of the population too elated to realize that they were mere tools, combined with a media campaign designed by those who aided in the sale of Black integrity.

For the past half century, alleged saviors have presented themselves - through nothing more than self proclamation - to lead Blacks out of "bondage", only to keep them penned in for the harvest of their  continued reliance. The promises continue to spew forth, the masses continue to hope, and nothing ever changes. The worst part of it all is, nothing was ever designed to change.

How odd it is, then, that the Tea Party movement, branded by the Liberal elites as a "racist organization", may ultimately prove to be instrumental in the long-awaited freedom for all from the scourge of racism, and the stranglehold the Left has had on the dialogue surrounding that tender subject. Democrats brandish the term like a weapon in order to bludgeon their foes who have a better solution; actual liberty.

Since an overwhelming majority of Blacks are Christian, it is perplexing that they are more politically aligned with the Godless Left. That is certainly not a call to an evangelical type of ideology, but a more practical application of a rather generic mindset of moral behavior. Those of us who believe in God in even the most peripheral sense are more apt to lean right. And while it must be excused for the populace to choose Obama as the first Black president based on simple opportunity and probability, it is now time to admit the mistake.

I have argued that Barack Obama may have "spoiled the soil" for subsequent Black candidates, and that assessment may hold true yet. But there is a potential candidate who may have the ability to overcome that problem, and his name is Herman Cain.

Herman Cain is a very successful businessman who made his way in life from humble beginnings. He forged his own success while shunning the life of too many of his peers who chose to believe the lie that they were being held back by a White majority afraid of the possibility of future competition. They were being held back, alright, but by the very people who claimed to want to help. Liberals were afraid of losing a dependent constituency. Conservatives saw potential for future partners.

With 2012 looming, and Barack Obama already threatening to inflict four more years of him on us, those old fallacies are still waiting as arrows in the Democrats' quivers. If a White candidate runs against him (and that particular field seems pretty anemic at the moment), it will be child's play to let those arrows fly, and our electorate will more than likely lap up those lies like kittens do milk.

Herman Cain and Americans for Prosperity

There is a benefit to the precedent that is Barack Obama, however; he bucked tradition by being the most unknown, most inexperienced candidate to ever assume office. Herman Cain is not a politician, but is very well known in the business world, and has a proven track record. He is a problem solver with little patience for mere finger-pointing. And he is fiercely devoted to the very same principals that made the Tea Party possible. He's also a card-carrying member, if there is such a thing. Those "racist Tea Partiers" embrace him.

Which leads us to the title of this exercise. Why The Cain Mutiny? That answer is rather simple; if Herman Cain can garner enough traction and actually secure the Republican nomination in 2012, he could conceivably draw Black Americans away from their captors into the fold of those with whom they privately agree but have been conditioned to loath. What if Herman Cain can win the nomination, free the Black portion of our electorate from the shackles they've willingly worn all these years, and set our listing ship of State aright? Wouldn't that heal many old wounds?

As a parting notation to any readers who may harbor ill will towards Blacks for archaic reasons, I beseech you to think. This will happen, despite your hatred. It may not be Herman Cain, but it is inevitable that it will happen. If you love America as much as your myriad tattoos suggest, make that time now. Herman Cains don't come along very often, no matter what color they may be. There is time before the election. I would suggest a suspension of hostilities in favor of a protracted examination of this man. And it would help to have a unified base going in, should Cain win the field.

Progressive Kryptonite? 



And the Grinch, with his grinch-feet ice-cold in the snow,  

Stood puzzling and puzzling: "How could it be so?

Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before!

 Exactly what is it about that Constitution, anyway? So close were the Progressives to rendering that old parchment moot, only to be thwarted in the eleventh hour, that there are thus far unsubstantiated reports of heads actually exploding in the land of alleged academia. For nearly five decades, the march was inexorable and the path devoid of obstructions. Success was as doubtful as a subsequent sunrise.

What has happened to the brilliant plans of the Liberal Progressives that once seemed as certain a reality as old age? The most obvious answer is the Tea Party and a spirit that refuses to die, the same spirit that has been mocked ever more boldly by its critics as time wore on and confidence waxed. It is precisely the reason for the analogous reference to Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas.



Not Going According To Plan

 As the Grinch stood atop the mountain with Max, his subservient pooch, expecting his insidious actions to finally break the spirit of the Whos in Whoville, he was devastated to witness that all of his nefarious work had proved fruitless, failing to dampen the joyous celebration taking place below in spite of his work.

The real world sometimes mirrors fiction, it has been said, and so it has now. Congressional Democrats, poised to finalize the plan set forth in the 1960's, have suddenly found that their formerly sedentary foes were not dead, but merely dozing. The media are represented by Max, who participated in the attempted ruin of Whoville, albeit with regrets. I realize that such a comparison is much too kind to today's excuse for journalism, but one I make nonetheless.

When Obama put his signature to the monstrosity of his dream law, universal health care, it was presumed to be the final nail in the Conservative movement's coffin. As it turns out, it was more like throwing cold water on a sleeping citizen, which would account for the necessity of an allegedly triumphant president to continue to travel the country in order to sell it -  the very law he had just signed - to the American people. We demanded a refund.

There's an old joke with the theme, "...and that's when the fight started." This one started when the Democrats - in their final, frenzied assault on the Constitution - began telling us that that document didn't really mean what we believed it to mean. The gloves finally came off when their victory dance left footprints all over it.

Oh, they insisted upon displaying a false bravado, with Obama threatening to veto a repeal by Congress. Even the media (we'll call it "Max") tried to assist, insisting that such a repeal would be futile and a horrible waste of time because of its chances of succeeding. No matter, the Tea Party-fueled members of Congress will not be deterred, and will ultimately choke off the funding for ObamaCare if that's what it takes.

Through all of this, the Liberal Progressives kept waiting for us to buckle, to crack under the weight of their momentum. They tried to smear the Tea Party members, lied about the tone of the rallies, and failed to substantiate a single claim. Even Andrew Breitbart, who offered $100,000 to anyone who could provide audio or video of the alleged racial slurs hurled at Black congressmen, still has his hundred grand.

Just when the Tea Party was supposed to falter and display the horrendous characteristics of angry, white racists, they instead did something amazing; they sang. They sang, they smiled, and they cleaned up after themselves, all the while maintaining a calm civility that infuriated the supposed intellectuals who could not fathom their own failure after so much seeming success. And then the Tea Party helped the sane regain control.

So it stands to reason that, despite the majority still enjoyed by the likes of Harry Reid in the Senate, there is a very real chance that vulnerable Democrats will desert the sinking ship and join in the repeal. I'll bet the Left never saw this one coming.

Where's the Expiration Date?

Liberals - now to be referred to as "Progressives" because Liberals no longer liked the negative connotation of the word "liberal" - have been scared witless (I know, I know) by the sudden truculence of the people. As they marched onward with their radical plans to transform America into their Socialist Utopia, those formerly passive people were either unaware or indifferent, perhaps refusing to believe the reality of what was afoot.

No longer. With the rise of the former Speaker of the House to the election of Barack Hussein Obama, people finally saw and realized the full extent of what the Progressives were attempting to do. And they rose up, loudly.

The response from the left - both politicians and pundits - was a defiant one in which they attempted to ridicule and belittle the new opposition, and it almost worked. If not for the relentless work of the Tea Party and similar groups, combined with a brave new crop of political nubiles unafraid to embrace the new ferocity, the Left may have succeeded.

There were many different attacks from the new "Obama Movement" on us. There was the "gun-toting, Bible-clinging" intended insult, which seems a strange position for an allegedly devout Christian like Barack Obama. The very people at whom that barb was hurled, however, instead caught and embraced it proudly. Obama even denigrated middle Americans for having American flags on their pickup trucks. Again, the response from middle Americans was, "Damn right"!

Deeply held American values, generations old and passed down from parents, were suddenly the object of ridicule. The Left tried to pass such traditions off as old and archaic. We weren't buying.

During the lead up to the passage of Obama Care, when constituents demanded of their representatives to know the Constitutional authority of Congress to ram it down our throats, some said that they didn't care about that document. They said it was too imperative to get the bill - which they hadn't even read - passed. Big mistake. People embraced the Constitution even more tightly.

Not a problem for the Progressive cabal; now they wonder aloud what this new "fetish" for the Constitution means, and why we right-wingers care so much. According to Merriam-Webster's dictionary, a fetish is defined as -  b : an object of irrational reverence or obsessive devotion.

That is critical, because it signifies that the Left views the document responsible for this great nation's rise to prominence as irrational, and to revere that document as obsessive. They would prefer to toss it aside like an old novel and move on (pardon the pun), and take this country in a new direction.

Sound familiar? It should. The Democrats slogan leading up to the 2006 elections that swept them into power was "A New Direction for America". And in 2008, the Obama campaign was all about "change". Since then, we have gotten both, and all it's done is to drive more and more people back to the Founding document. The left calls that "going backward". Glenn Beck has a better description.

Beck portrays it as simply going back far enough to see where we left the tracks, and restart on the one that gave us the best success. I agree, and it is something we are still capable of doing, so long as we don't let the bullies make us cry.

Homogeneous Tea Party? Never!

March of the Plain Soldiers

This is for anyone who has recently been referred to as a "domestic threat" or a hate-mongering, right wing extremist. I feel your pain, brothers and sisters, but have no fear, there is a new Sheriff of Mediocrity poised to seize the brass ring of blandness with a level of excitement not witnessed since Pat Paulsen ran for President of the United States.

They are the group "No Labels", a consortium of like-minded individuals passionately committed to accept without question virtually anything the government wishes to inflict upon them. Their slogan is "No Left, No Right, Forward", and their doctrine is to firmly refuse to take a stand on any issue. Other than labels, of course. Labels are bad.

A simple Google search for this raucous new venture will reward the viewer with all the thrills of an Amish barn-raising and inspire chills to rival a summer in the Sahara. Or perhaps a more accurate assessment would be the comparison to trying to choose the right medication from the medicine cabinet after all of the labels have been removed from the bottles. Maybe the more adventurous would prefer the analogy of a plethora of cleaning products similarly unidentified. "Will I or won't I explode?" Brr.

After a year of terrifying displays at a multitude of Tea Party events in the past year, now we have the specter of No Labels looming on the horizon. Imagine wandering harmlessly into a gathering of several dozen people, unwittingly, and discovering too late that they are No Labellers? What a horror as they approach in a small group, muttering inaudibly and inanimately that they plan on taking no actions when they reach you? Please, try not to have nightmares because of this scenario.

OK, enough with the frivolity. While it is great fun to ridicule the "moderates", I do not believe that this gang will maintain such a philosophy for long. In fact, I doubt that they are moderates at all, but are merely masquerading as such as a means to diminish the mood of a large majority of Americans who genuinely are upset over what our government has been up to lately. In other words, No Labels is a poser group.

Their primary goal will be revealed in short time as nothing more than an attempt to counter the Tea Party movement, perhaps the most successful grass roots effort this country has ever seen. The efforts by every entity - from the alleged mainstream media to the Department of Homeland Security - to marginalize the Tea Party have failed, as they were all based on lies. So now this new campaign has materialized.

If you can't beat 'em, join 'em, as the old saying goes. Or, in this case, pretend to be less vitriolic and more reasonable. But one can't possibly be reasonable with those who refuse to listen to reason. True moderates' only conviction is that they have none. These Label folks have some, or they would never have been able to organize anything. Interesting, then, that they want us to go along to get along; to move Forward.

Where is "forward" is the question most on my mind these days, however. Where is that place we are being asked to follow them into, and what happens when we get there? Exploration is for science, not for societies. Therefore, I don't want to stand by and wait to see what happens when we explore fiscal and judicial experiments. Besides, history teaches that tinkering with the successful formula eventually destroys it.

The Tea Party embraces the principles of our success as a nation. Opponents mockingly ask what would have happened if we had resisted the efforts of Christopher Columbus or any similar brave pioneers who have allowed for the advancement of humanity. (Oddly, these same Liberals denounce the Space Program as a waste of money, despite the enormous medical and technological benefits over the past half century as a result).

Regardless of the argument, I still maintain that we are better served as a people when we calmly and respectfully resist the radical transformation of our greatness through firm and active participation despite the ridicule heaped upon us. It is better than succumbing to the whims of the elite "intellectuals", as the Stepford Wives approach endorsed by No Labels would have us believe.

I refuse to be homogenized. How about you? Got milk?

About That Tea Party Longevity...

Think It's Got Legs?

Is the Tea Party movement dead, or dying? Some have said as much, but thus far there has been no evidence to back up such claims. There was a lot of bluster by terminal politicians leading up to the mid-term elections to that effect, but such false bravado was akin to a bludgeoning victim screaming, "That didn't hurt", as each blow drains a bit more of his life.

After the Democrats suffered their own figurative bludgeoning in the elections, Rep, Boyd Brown (D-S.C.) told an audience of high schoolers that the Tea Party was a "fad", and that he thought it would "go away". Mayor Mike Bloomberg of New York City also labelled the movement a fad. And leading up to the mid-terms a year out, soon-to-be-former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi audaciously condemned the Tea Party as an "AstroTurf" movement.

It was a curious statement at the time, but one that recently has me pondering a few questions regarding its validity. Does AstroTurf have roots? After all, Madam Pelosi's comment was designed to cut into the credibility of the movement, suggesting that it was not of the revered family of "grass roots" efforts, but rather more of a machine of wealthy Conservative zealots, controlling the stupid masses through talk radio.

 Is it ever necessary to mow AstroTurf? Any sports fan would know that the very idea of AstroTurf was borne of maintenance needs. Stadiums that hosted multiple home teams, for example, were spending vast amounts of money on seeds and labor to keep up the pristine appearances in heavy traffic. Yet, the Left  has been on a continuous crusade to cut down the Tea Party, "fake grass" movement. Odd.

Finally, does AstroTurf have spores that can be spread aloft in the trade winds, carrying them to germinate and grow in distant lands? From what we already know about the product, the obvious answer would be "no". And yet, we learn now that the Tea Party movement is not restrained to the shores of the United States, at least not any longer.

Anyone who has been a regular reader of mine is well acquainted with my affinity for the ironic, and this latest development fits the bill quite nicely. While the Left has been urgently trying to declare a time of death for the Tea Party movement, it must be noted that it never really died in the first place; it merely lay in a dormant state for a few centuries. It was started originally as a protest against King George of England over his crippling taxes and finally spilled over (pardon the pun) into Boston Harbor in the eighteenth century. Here's where the irony comes into play.

FOX News is reporting that the Tea Party movement has taken (root?) in...England! While we certainly harbor (apologies again) no ill will over the original motivation for the Tea Party idea, it is still rather delicious that the people from our former reason to protest have now joined the band. On a more serious note, what this says about the entire notion is telling.

The Tea Party ideals have been with us for as long as we've drawn breath, embedded in our souls and always with us. We've just neglected them as we've progressed, feeling secure in our various degrees of personal success and concentrating our efforts on our own improvement. It wasn't until our own government began to actively impede that progress that we finally pulled them out of storage. Those on the Left, opposed to personal liberty and responsibility, might refer to this as having opened Pandora's Box. I prefer to think that the Beast has been released.

How big and how bad is this beast? Well, so far it has demonstrated a powerful yet peaceful method, and that is good. What's important to realize, however, is that this is no longer an anomaly here in the U.S., but something based on a principle that knows no boundaries, and one that Ronald Reagan articulated quite well. Freedom is the natural state of Man, and something which cannot be bestowed by other men.

We know it, and now so do the Brits. Anyone else want some? Hey, let's do tea!

The Second Coming of America

Inspiration comes at the oddest of times, much as a revelation does to a devoutly religious person. A moment presents itself like a whack against the forehead, and the recipient is struck with a moment of ultra clarity.

I was sitting outside tonight enjoying one of the simple pleasures left to us, an after dinner smoke. That's right, I consumed a tobacco product in the relative sanctity of my back yard after a very enjoyable dinner of red meat coated with a thin layer of table salt, and baked potatoes moistened by a quarter stick of real butter.

I sat, smoked, and reflected on the state of our being here in the U.S. As the incandescent light relieved the sentry of nature's illumination, it occurred to me that there were many, just like me, who were doing exactly what I was doing at that very moment. Then I imagined that many of them were feeling that they were the only ones doing so. Upon further reflection, I believe my imagination, and find that it's a sad statement about our state of being.

As the ember of my sinful treat advanced, threatening to singe my knuckles, and as the Moody Blues' cold-hearted orb ascended to its temporary throne in the evening sky, something became clear to me. We have been hiding. We have not been merely too busy to get involved in our state of being, we have actually been shuttered in our homes, hoping that morning would bring a return to sanity. Yet everyday we arose, parted the curtains, and saw the same ruins outside, only slightly more advanced each time.

Feeling isolated we waited, we hoped, we prayed, and yet, no one came to save us. So we sought the solace of one another and found, to our amazement, an army of people who were not only ready to mobilize, but eager to do so. The Left, meanwhile,  had enjoyed the free reign of the battle fields, eventually thirsting for combatants when they became scarce, staggering around with arms outstretched, arrogantly daring challenge. Finally, filled with a false sense of invincibility, they dropped their cloaks with a defiant sneer.

The only problem was...no one reported it. The media treated it as a local turtle race. People all over America who had not engaged in the battle and, therefore, had no sides to choose, carried on as if nothing had happened, and they continue to do so. Deriving all of their information from "sources" more concerned with the ultimate fate of faulty celebrities, a multitude of voters marched forward unaware that their country had been seized by Socialists.

It wasn't until the election of Barack Hussein Obama - an event which consummated the Lefts complete control of the government - that boldness quickly turned to arrogance and unprecedented hubris. It was clear rather quickly that the governed no longer mattered. Even more shocking, however, is how we are now cast as the extremists.

It should be noted that by dropping the charade of incremental steps, the Left has done us a very big favor by suddenly lurching toward a transparently Socialistic brand of governance, even if the media still does not recognize it. We know it, and many who were mildly sympathetic to the Democrats philosophy also have realized it.

For those like me who were initially angry that we allowed the media to foist candidate John McCain on us, I now say that we owe a huge debt of gratitude to them. I believe that we are about to witness a Conservative renaissance that may just last for decades, all because we gave the Left a brief moment in history in which to experiment with their foolhardy agenda. As we are seeing, the people do not like it.

As a chill breeze stirred above in the canopy of leaves, I stubbed out my cigarette and glanced at the moon, suddenly filled with a new hope. It was a hope much, much different than the brand offered in the 2008 campaign of Barck Hussein Obama, and I grinned at the irony of the phrase that suddenly occurred to me; "we shall overcome".

Storm Season

In 1992, when Bill Clinton defeated George H.W. Bush for the presidency, the Liberal/Progressive movement was still akin to a teenager living at home, not quite ready to take on the world or America. Or perhaps like a seedling still fighting for survival and moisture from the soil. Certainly the seeds were rooted, but all that had managed to pierce the soil were tiny sprigs of flora. And it didn't take long for the Republicans to realize that what was growing were weeds. 



When then-Speaker Newt Gingrich engineered the Republican takeover of Congress, the mood of the country then was seen as tumultuous, but in retrospect, it was little more than a tropical depression. Clinton eventually won a second term in office, but the subsequent years did nothing to aide his Vice President in his own bid for the office. Al Gore lost to George W. Bush, and the Republicans were once again in control. 



The Bush 43 years started out rough, got better after the terrorist attacks of 2001, and then went steadily downhill, partly of his own parties doing and partly because of a resurgent and emboldened Liberal/Progressive movement. Not only had they grown up - for lack of a better term -but they were encouraged and abetted by a once watchful media. In 2006, the Democrats once again swept the Republicans out of Congress. 



With the press firmly planted in their pockets, the Democrats set about putting the final nail in George W. Bush's political coffin, and people most reliant on "traditional" media sources were fed a steady diet of misinformation. Combined with the approaching end of Bush's second term, Barack Obama was groomed and prepared to complete the ultimate destruction of the America we have come to know and love. All of the ingredients were rapidly falling into place for the ultimate storm. And it has arrived. The Democrats just didn't know what they were creating. 



As they immediately embarked on their ambitious mission with a level of hubris once unthinkable, they sparked the beginnings of this storm. Raucous town hall meetings last summer were just the beginning, and they were brushed aside by the targets of the people's ire as a minuscule dissatisfaction among a minority of their constituents. So arrogant were these alleged servants that they still believed the silence of the Right was somehow an indication of their non-existence. 



When more people began to amass at rallies, Democrats began to notice, but settled for putting away the patio furniture in case it "got a little windy". Eh, then they started using masking tape on the windows, then plywood. Eventually, they tried to do what they assumed Bush should have done in 2005 regarding Hurricane Katrina; they tried to divert the coming onslaught. 



Recognizing that there was undeniable danger headed their way, Democrats and their media cohorts began trying to paint the Tea Party storm as a pack of angry, white racists, grossly misinformed by an equally angry, white alternative media, aka Fox News and talk radio.They lied about racial epithets being hurled at black Congressmen during the Health Care debacle, and they accused Tea Party folks of spitting on these members of Congress. The complicit media deliberately under reported crowd sizes at Tea Party demonstrations. Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh were routinely attacked as racist goaders somehow manipulating the racist Americans who wanted nothing more than to have their country back. And still the storm approached, unflinching. 



Now the Democrats are flailing wildly, certain that the fierce winds swirling around them will sweep them into oblivion. My advice to them is to cease the struggle and surrender to the inevitable. Oblivion is your future, at least for now. What we have been witnessing this election season is proof that the majority of Americans still are faithful to the love they embraced for her at her inception. 



Tea Party candidates have been routinely posting primary electoral victories in races they were declared to have no business winning. Rallies have been getting larger and larger. The people have actually begun to ignore the snide insults of their Democrat Representatives as meaningless, senseless rhetoric from soon-to-be insignificant men. 



Even the Republican Party in Delaware yesterday declared that it would not support the Tea Party victor in that states primary for Senator. Christine O'Donnell defeated moderate Republican Congressman Mike Castle, who was predicted to win easily. So upon hearing that the RNSC would not fund her campaign, grassroots supporters crashed O'Donnell's campaign website trying to donate on their own. The RNSC eventually reversed itself, and will now endorse O'Donnell. 



Media folks are now trying to portray this as a fracture in the Republican Party, one that will dull the advances the Republicans make in Congressional seats this year, but they fail to recognize that the Tea Party is not a third party, but a consortium of Republicans who are fed up with the "establishment" party. 



Barack Hussein Obama was seen as the final piece of the Cloward-Piven puzzle, the catalyst that would place the final straw on the proverbial camel's back, causing the collapse of the American economic structure and finally setting in motion the rebuilding in the image the Progressives have long sought. There are two key components that they never anticipated, however. The resilience of the American people, and the tensil strength of the foundation of our great nation.



While Obama has delivered everything that the disciples of Cloward and Piven had expected, America has stood much like Rocky Balboa did against Apollo Creed. Defying the laws of physics, - or, in this case, economics - she has refused to go down. Yes, the support beams groan loudly in protest, just as Rocky's legs begged to betray him, but they have not buckled.



As the next forty-eight days advance, the Category 5 hurricane that is the Tea Party movement seems poised to cleanse the air in Washington just as a good storm does the stagnant, humid air on a typical summer day. November 3rd is a day, therefore, that I forecast will be clear, crisp and dry.

The Sand Dune Tsunami: An American Story

Most of us are familiar with the phenomenon of the tsunami and its devastating effects, so there is no reason to delve into the particulars of them. But try to imagine the impossibility of the dunes on the shore rising up in similar fashion to counter - and ultimately repel - the tidal wave. It's happening right now, albeit analogously, but happening nonetheless. Let's examine just how.

The tide of Liberalism has spent the past several decades gently and patiently lapping at the shoreline of reason in America, slowly eroding the values of our youth and creating sandbars a few dozen feet from the water's edge by which to generate more powerful waves. While this littoral drift has been occurring undetected, the sea of Liberalism has gobbled greedily at it, yet advancing at a nearly imperceptible pace.

As the sandbar grew through maturity, it begot more sand, making the waves' assault more powerful with time. Eventually the waves grew so furious that they began pounding the beach with a ferocity that threatened to engulf the land. Then the land rose up.

Yes, this may sound like the ravings of a man awakened from a weird dream, still clutching the false memories of fitful slumber, but stay with me on this. 

Almost all of us here in America are either immigrants, or descendants of immigrants. On that point, there is no dispute. But at some point, the people who came to America ceased doing so for the purpose of actually becoming Americans. This is a curious development, since one can only assume the reason to come here would be to escape an undesirable existence for a chosen one. Yet, there was a threshold where the new arrivals came, settled, and immediately set about the task of attempting to recreate the conditions they recently fled. 

Wealthy Liberals take pride in using their fame and fortune to denigrate the nation that allowed for both, claiming that the system that made them is a terrible one. People who successfully gain entry here - often at great personal risk - quickly learn to complain of alleged unfair treatment, demanding better, while they felt no compunction to change their places of origin. Why, for example, don't the multitudes of illegal aliens coming here from Mexico stay home and demand of current President Filipe Calderon that he improve their lives? Simple answer; they are afraid. 

This week, Sean Hannity had David Horowitz and Jehan S. Harney on as guests to debate the Ground Zero Mosque being considered for construction near where the September 11, 2001 attacks took down the Twin Towers. Hannity grilled Harney about conditions in Saudi Arabia, where Christians are forbidden from stepping foot within Mecca, and no churches exist. Harney countered - dismissively- that Saudi Arabia has the right to run their country as they saw fit, but that America is "our" country, and we shouldn't be exclusive. It was a very interesting exchange. 

Since the driving force behind the project 600 feet from Ground Zero, Imam Feisel Abdul Rauf, has expressed a desire to advance Shar'ia Law here in America, the same question must be asked: Why come here only to recreate the prohibitive and exclusionary atmosphere of places like Saudi Arabia? In spite of Harney's rejection of the argument, it remains valid. Either come here to worship as you see fit while obeying our laws, or stay home and fight for your rights there. 

This all goes straight to the heart of the Liberal - or Progressive, or subversive, or whatever label one may prefer - agenda of wiping out the garden that our Founders had planted. The reef was finally built and the Liberals released their tsunami in the form of Barack Hussein Obama and the 111th session of Congress. In the the first year, their waves swept over the land, wiping out everything in their path. Then the Tea Party happened in the form of a solid wall of Earth. 

No one ever expected to see a resistance on this level. It was assumed by the Liberals that the placid shore was just that; harmless and ripe for conquest. No one ever foresaw the dunes rising in opposition. But they did. They rose so quickly that even their supposed allies - the Republicans -  are alarmed. I suspect that the Republicans will recover much more quickly, while the Democrats are flailing like a dolphin caught in a tuna net.

Final thought: Just as water will always try to encroach on land by seeking rivulets wherever possible, the Liberals seek to undermine the Tea Party through deception, claiming that the movement is racist, bigoted, or against the advancement of America. With the right trajectory, the Tea Party can demonstrate and prove that progress can be achieved while remaining anchored to principles.

We can succeed without sacrificing virtue.

Curses, Foiled Again

I suppose most would think the title refers to the latest failed terrorist attack on New York City, and for that I could not fault them. But it's really a commentary on the ache of the liberal media-ites for which relief always seems just beyond reach. It appears as a hazy mirage, dancing before their eager eyes, and they clutch at it hungrily yet are always left with nothing but wispy tendrils of ether. And the pain lingers on.

In the case of the Times Square bomber, Faisal Shahzad, the benefit of the doubt was not only given to radical Muslims, it was deeply desired. The media went out of its collective way to speculate on every possibility but jihad despite the long-discarded notion that journalism is about facts and not speculation.

The media breathlessly commented on the presence of "a white male" changing his shirt, and Mayor Bloomberg opined on Katie Couric's show that it was probably some nut who acted alone and was "Homegrown maybe a mentally deranged person or someone with a political agenda that doesn't like the health care bill or something. It could be anything." (Translation: probably a right-wing Tea Party guy).

Then the news came out that it was - surprise! - a Pakistan-born Muslim, and the giddy media bubble was instantly burst. Oh, they struggled to maintain the spectre of a "homegrown" man, a "naturalized citizen", they said, but it wasn't long before even that aura dissipated. So invested were they in the hope that it was a right-wing Tea Party guy that the disappointment was palpable, even articulated by some. Contessa Brewer of MSNBC, for example, had this to say:

"I mean the thing is is that and I get frustrated and there was part of me that was hoping this was not going to be anybody with ties to any kind of Islamic country because there are a lot of people who want to use this terrorist intent to justify writing off people who believe in a certain way or come from certain countries or whose skin color is a certain way. I mean they use it as justification for really outdated bigotry.
And so there was part of me was really hoping this would not be the case that here would be somebody who is not the defined. I mean he’s accused he’s arrested you know I don’t want to convict him before it’s time to do so. He’s the guy authorities say is involved. But that being said I mean we know even in recent history you have the Haitari(sic) militia from Michigan who have plans to let’s face it create terror.
That’s what they were planning to do and they were doing so from far different backgrounds then what this guy is coming from. So, the threat is not just coming from people who decide that America is the place to be and you know come here and want to become citizens. Obviously this guy did."

Right to the bitter end the Contessa clings to the claim that "this guy did" want to become a citizen - which is partly true because he did become a citizen - but it is now clear that his intent was anything but a craving for apple pie. For example, he couldn't pay his mortgage, but he could travel to Pakistan thirteen times in ten years.

For a man about to lose his home to foreclosure, he had cash to lay out for the SUV he planned to detonate in Times Square, as well as the materials for the bomb. Then, after being placed on the "no-fly" list, he still managed to drive for an hour and a half from Connecticut to JFK Airport, and buy a one-way ticket, to Dubai, with more cash. And yet no one thought there was anything untoward about this, and he was boarded on the plane.

Still, liberals continued the charade that he was but one lone, lost soul and that there was no evidence that he did not act alone. They never stopped to consider the uber-secret society of al Qaida operatives in the Middle East and their hypersensitivity to to being discovered. So it makes no sense that some poor, down-on-his-luck schlub "from Connecticut" - no matter his Pakistani heritage - could fly to Pakistan, stand forlornly in the airport with a sign, and subsequently be taken under the wing of deadly terrorists for some classes.

And now, reluctantly, some media outlets are reporting that he did receive training, which is the final blow to lugubrious reporters who watch the dream of blaming some Midwestern militia for the near mayhem evaporate into thin air. Perhaps they will get another chance in the near future to dream again. But for now, the Tea Party people go about painting their clever signs for the next demonstration in between helping their grandchildren with homework.

Apple pie for true Americans is a sweet treat. Pity that so many among us view it as bitter fruit.

Constipated Mind

Regular readers may be wondering where I have been, and for that I can't blame them, for I have been quite derelict in my postings of late. This post offers nothing new beyond a semi-convinced assurance that I may be beginning to recover from the constipation of the mind I have been battling of late.

While I recognize all too well the hazards of any writer equating his own writings with that of the digestive tract, it is nevertheless a valid comparison, albeit not for the same reasons severe critics would seize upon.

This explanation is geared toward the process of intake and output, as I seem to have been gorging on information at a pace prohibitive to my ability to digest and disseminate it and, as such, there seems to have been a log jam in my critical point of release. Being of the Conservative bent, said critics will undoubtedly focus on the fecal correlation with juvenile, giggling glee, but such are the risks of sharing opinions publicly.

Having said all of that, and after taking some small advantage of the self-imposed hiatus, I hope to resume the exposure of the assault on America very shortly. I just wanted to assuage the fears that some may have had that I had abandoned the battle. I have not, and I will not until regular Americans can live in the freedom to which they have become accustomed.

The Tea Parties have been doing a fabulous job, and seem to be growing despite claims by the left that "they will forget long before November". There are true warriors waging the online battles daily (Tim Phillips of AFP being one). While I have sat on a sideline bench, it has been to catch my breath, and I shall reengage again.
