Obama's Jihad On Global Warming

In the aftermath of the attempted Christmas day terrorist attack on a Detroit-bound airliner, the American public can sleep easy knowing that their president has vowed to fix the "systemic failure" of the nations intelligence networks. Laying the blame squarely on the CIA, Barack Hussein Obama said that the agency screwed up in failing to prevent Nigerian-born Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab from boarding the plane.

One would conclude from Obama's reaction to this incident - and from his rhetoric - that he takes the threat of terrorism seriously, and intends to do everything he can to keep America safe from harm. However, that conclusion would be erroneous.

On January 5th The New York Times reported that “The nation’s top scientists and spies are collaborating on an effort to use the federal government’s intelligence assets—including spy satellites and other classified sensors—to assess the hidden complexities of environmental change.” This may explain why the CIA may have been just a tad preoccupied and failed to detect Abdulmutallab, and makes one wonder what else the CIA might be missing.

While it's clear that Obama views global warming as more of a threat than Islamic terrorism, he believes that both can be handled in the same way, and that is through the redistribution of wealth. On the issue of tackling "climate change", Obama says that “as the world’s largest economy … America bears our share of responsibility in addressing climate change.” In other words, we have to send gobs of our money to poorer nations to "level the playing field".

As for terrorism, Obama also foolishly believes that the quarrel is about poverty and fairness. Speaking of the Christmas Day bombing attempt on January 2nd, Obama commented:

"The investigation into the Christmas Day incident continues, and we're learning more about the suspect. We know that he traveled to Yemen, a country grappling with crushing poverty... It appears that he joined an affiliate of al-Qaeda, and that this group... trained him, equipped him with those explosives and directed him to attack that plane headed for America".
This to somehow suggest that they attack us because they're impoverished, despite the fact that Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab is the youngest son of Alhaji Umaru Mutallab, one of the richest men in Africa. When the young man lived in London, he lived in a $4 million dollar apartment. Hardly the stuff of discontent.

While radical Muslims plot round the clock to figure out a way to murder as many of us as possible, Obama has the CIA's spy satellites trained on polar ice caps and taking a polar bear census. (Couldn't ACORN do that?)

Sleep well, America, Barry's got your back.

Age Of Aquarius

When the moon is in the seventh house
And Jupiter aligns with Mars

Or, "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas"

Even from a position of power such as they have, democrats continue to futilely flail at republicans, and it is starting to get tiresome to a good many people, even democrat voters. Nancy Pelosi is back in the news for her accusations that the CIA lied to her and the reason is because her fellow democrats were attempting to provide cover for her earlier transgressions. The colloquial term for mistakes like this is "continually stepping in [it]".

After a lame attempt to damage the former administration and George W. Bush in mid-May, the Speaker found herself frantically trying to remove her foot from her mouth. A few days ago, she thought she could thank CIA chief Leon Panetta for finally extricating the appendage, but that's not working out so well for her, either. Thinking that they were about to score twice, democrats and their media enablers were giddy over the prospect of nailing Dick Cheney to the wall while vindicating Nancy Pelosi, as George Stephanopoulos gushed on ABCs state-run "news".

But already, the democrats are finding that they may have stepped in something that's difficult to wipe off as more facts continue to emerge. According to a Fox News report, Congress Authorized CIA to Develop Secret Al Qaeda Plan, Former Official Says:
Congress originally authorized the CIA to develop the secret counterterrorism program that is now drawing fierce criticism from House Democrats who say they were kept in the dark all along, a former senior intelligence official told FOX News on Monday.
Other reports are pointing out that the "secret" plan was never implemented, nor was it ever close to being implemented, which could cause added grief for democrats who still believe that they may have the smoking gun needed to finally "get" Cheney. As the Washington Post reports:
Three former intelligence officials who were close to the program said it operated within legal guidelines.

"Everything we did fell under the [authorizations] of both administrations, Democratic and Republican," said one former counterterrorism official with detailed knowledge of the program. "We would have been professionally negligent if we had not taken the actions we did. There was zero legal risk in my mind."
And yet, the democrats are still planning to investigate this vigorously, which as it turns out, could be just what the doctor ordered. If they get bogged down with the CIA business, it is less likely that they will meet Obama's timetables for health care and cap and trade. That's a win for our side on two fronts. First, we won't end up being saddled with the additional financial burdens the two plans would inflict upon us and second, the people who were so sure that Obama would finally deliver will be furious when he cannot. That may well translate into a shift of power in both houses of Congress in 2010.

So just when Obama and the democrats thought that the stars were in their favor - especially with the seating of Al Franken in Minnesota, giving the democrats a super majority of 60 seats - it is starting to increasingly look like the Age of Aquarius will eventually favor the republicans. And it can't happen fast enough.

The Speaker Moonwalks

Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, has found herself embroiled in a situation that will possibly be her undoing. Frantically trying to reverse her statements of just a few days ago, she has once again trained her guns on the Bush administration in an attempt to deflect the attacks coming at her from all directions. But this predicament is proving to be akin to Chinese handcuffs; the harder she struggles and pulls, the more tightly ensnared she becomes.

On Thursday she issue a statement and then fielded questions from reporters, who were not inclined to take on the usually expected sycophantic tone. At that press conference, she twisted and squirmed terribly, setting off the events now unfolding. Since then, perceived allies have abandoned her - understandably so - and enemies have smelled blood in the water.

She accused the CIA - now headed by former Clinton loyalist Leon Panetta - of lying about her briefings on the use of "enhanced interrogation techniques" (EIT's). Perhaps expecting backing from a fellow democrat, Pelosi could not have been more wrong. Panetta shot back immediately: “Let me be clear: It is not our policy or practice to mislead Congress. That is against our laws and our values,” Panetta wrote.

Feverishly attempting to backpedal in the absence of support from the left, Pelosi has "clarified" the remarks that everyone heard clearly in the first place. She now says:

“My criticism of the manner in which the Bush administration did not appropriately inform Congress is separate from my respect for those in the intelligence community who work to keep our country safe.”
It is becoming increasingly evident - even to the few supporters that she has left - that the Speaker is incapable of honesty.

In her capacity as Speaker of the House, and the terrifyingly close proximity of that station to the Oval Office, there should be little resistance to her removal, even by democrats. It is simply impossible to expect that a person of her limited character would voluntarily step down. And it should not be expected of the American people to endure the torture of her tenure any longer.

Nancy Pelosi must go.
