The Re-Branding of an Industry

Oops! Global Warming research
ship stuck in the ice.
Newsflash: the Left actually hates Saul Alinsky when he is used against them.

Chris Hayes of MSNBC's All In is as mad as Hell, and he is not going to take it any more, to quote Howard Beale of the film Network. Chris recently took to the airwaves (cableways?) to opine in plaintive fashion about all of these right wingers giddily pointing out that a research ship from Australia -- ferrying a group of climate scientists -- has been stuck in increasingly thickening ice since Christmas Eve. You can watch the pitiable mewling of Chris Hayes here.

Fortunately, the crew and passengers of the ship were in no danger of sinking or starving, as the ship had enough supplies for weeks. You see, we (the Right) only laugh when something is genuinely funny. And the irony of this situation was just too rich to ignore. A group of scientists -- who Chris Hayes claims does things like this for "no monetary gain, but only to save the planet", yet has the wherewithal to charter a large ship -- sailed to Antarctica to further bolster the findings of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), ostensibly.  But when they got to the South Pole, their ship became surrounded by thick ice, thus trapping the ship.

The ensuing hilarity, from places like The Drudge Report to The Rush Limbaugh Show to Climate Depot, was enough to set the Left ablaze, and Chris Hayes was all over it. And he brought along some real experts to help him "set the record straight". Michael Mann of the discredited "hockey stick" fame was up first, followed by Sam Seder of The Majority Report, a leftist propaganda organ, and Eric Boehlert of Media Matters, an organization reported to have written much of MSNBC's material.

Note in the clip how they whine about the "big money" on the right fueling the global warming skepticism, and how they complain about the mocking of this event by...mocking it. More irony. For starters, there is no more money to be had than that wielded by the global warming crowd, from the IPCC itself to Al Gore and George Soros. But we must remember that these folks have nothing but the salvation of the Earth at heart. Stifle your laughter, please.

And complaining about being mocked is the epitome of hypocrisy from the likes of leftist MSNBC, for they have perfected that tactic over the years, making Saul Alinsky proud. My, how they hate having the tables turned on them. But Hayes and friends go on to attempt to mock the skeptics by saying sarcastically, "Yeah, it's cold, it's winter"!

Perhaps the best part of all was Michael Mann smugly telling the audience that global warming climate change was actually responsible for more ice forming in the South Pole, because warmer water means more moisture in the air which contributes to the formation of ice, and that is was the North Pole we should be focused on, because the Arctic would be ice free in decades.  Huh?

Lost revenues for the Left
So a layman such as myself would be forced to ponder why all that warm water in the Arctic would not produce the same effect. Call me kooky, or just a skeptic, but I am not stupid, and many people are starting to come to the same realization that these clowns -- who profess to be scientists and not ideologues -- are selling us a bridge they don't own.

Such is the necessity to re-brand the term "global warming" into the more flexible "climate change", but people are no longer buying it, and the left is coming unhinged as they see their empire of global catastrophe come crashing down like a section of the Larsen B ice shelf in Antarctica. Think of the "big money" they will be missing out on if the people begin to resume their lives, knowing that life goes on until God says it's enough, and that Man has no say in the matter.

Obama's Jihad On Global Warming

In the aftermath of the attempted Christmas day terrorist attack on a Detroit-bound airliner, the American public can sleep easy knowing that their president has vowed to fix the "systemic failure" of the nations intelligence networks. Laying the blame squarely on the CIA, Barack Hussein Obama said that the agency screwed up in failing to prevent Nigerian-born Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab from boarding the plane.

One would conclude from Obama's reaction to this incident - and from his rhetoric - that he takes the threat of terrorism seriously, and intends to do everything he can to keep America safe from harm. However, that conclusion would be erroneous.

On January 5th The New York Times reported that “The nation’s top scientists and spies are collaborating on an effort to use the federal government’s intelligence assets—including spy satellites and other classified sensors—to assess the hidden complexities of environmental change.” This may explain why the CIA may have been just a tad preoccupied and failed to detect Abdulmutallab, and makes one wonder what else the CIA might be missing.

While it's clear that Obama views global warming as more of a threat than Islamic terrorism, he believes that both can be handled in the same way, and that is through the redistribution of wealth. On the issue of tackling "climate change", Obama says that “as the world’s largest economy … America bears our share of responsibility in addressing climate change.” In other words, we have to send gobs of our money to poorer nations to "level the playing field".

As for terrorism, Obama also foolishly believes that the quarrel is about poverty and fairness. Speaking of the Christmas Day bombing attempt on January 2nd, Obama commented:

"The investigation into the Christmas Day incident continues, and we're learning more about the suspect. We know that he traveled to Yemen, a country grappling with crushing poverty... It appears that he joined an affiliate of al-Qaeda, and that this group... trained him, equipped him with those explosives and directed him to attack that plane headed for America".
This to somehow suggest that they attack us because they're impoverished, despite the fact that Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab is the youngest son of Alhaji Umaru Mutallab, one of the richest men in Africa. When the young man lived in London, he lived in a $4 million dollar apartment. Hardly the stuff of discontent.

While radical Muslims plot round the clock to figure out a way to murder as many of us as possible, Obama has the CIA's spy satellites trained on polar ice caps and taking a polar bear census. (Couldn't ACORN do that?)

Sleep well, America, Barry's got your back.

Safety In Numbers- How To Lie With Impunity

There used to be a time when being discovered standing over a dead body with the murder weapon in your hand was considered damning evidence, but it seems that the liberal mindset has relegated the smoking gun to mythological status, the veritable Pegasus of admissible probability. It is child's play to deny any wrong doing simply by denouncing your discoverers as liars and declaring the notion of your capacity to kill as ludicrous.

There are people who truly believe that George W. Bush and Dick Cheney covertly planted an intricate network of bombs throughout 220 stories of the Twin Towers with no one knowing a thing about it, or that anyone who did know has remained silent all this time. They believe it just as surely as they know the sun will rise in the East, despite the overwhelming logistical impossibility of it. Yet, these same people cannot conceive of a scientific cabal hellbent on economic and social domination even though the evidence is both abundant and mounting.

It is simply ridiculous, they will say, to think that so many people could possibly be in collusion, and the incriminating emails recently revealed prove nothing. Bragging of "tricking" temperature data or imploring colleagues to destroy potentially damaging emails has been "taken out of context", we're told. Then they will - with straight faces - accuse the deniers of being part of an oil-funded conspiracy to destroy the planet. Does anyone see the sick irony here?

While liberals are given the benefit of the doubt by their counterparts in the media, conservatives are condemned on here say alone. Tom Delay was run out of town because someone accused him of gerrymandering in Texas, yet Charles Rangel rolls on unimpeded as Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee after it was revealed that he failed to pay taxes. (The committee he chairs writes the tax laws). Timothy Geithner is the Secretary of the U.S. Treasury even though it was disclosed that he failed to pay his income taxes.

These are not new revelations, I know, but they must be taken in context with the grand Global Warming scheme, for just the mention of a Lord Monckton draws snickers and derision from the left, who cast him as a charlatan. It is much easier to avoid a serious discussion when the opponent is classified as unworthy of consideration rather than given a chance to be heard. The left simply cannot risk lending any form of credence to such "blasphemy". (Al Gore has been running from Monckton for quite some time now). And so they agree en masse to stifle any damaging discoveries and sneeringly scoff at accusations. And the media willingly abets.

I pray that James Inhofe and any like-thinking associates hang onto this like tenacious pit bulls and force it out into the mainstream. We have just witnessed the CRU being thoroughly embarrassed and supported to the hilt by a press that too fervently believes the lies they've been told. What's worse is that they are now less curious about the truth and more eager to perpetuate the lie, which is precisely why they are on the same page in portraying this devastating disclosure as no big deal. If they reported accurately on the news, too many people who may not have had the AGW belief firmly ingrained in their psyches may begin to doubt.

That would be unacceptable to a crowd that not only clearly subscribes to the lessons of Goebbels, but has managed to out do him. Keep lying and never stop denying. And if we can get more than half of the people to lie, then it must be the truth.

Hold The Cap And Trade

Apparently, those little squiggly light bulbs are so effective in stopping global warming that their use has managed to offset even Al Gore's carbon footprint. Stop the presses and hold the cap and trade, we may not need do anymore than we're already doing. And we certainly don't want to over do it.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's figures are out for the month of June, and in New York, the month was the coldest and wettest in the past half century. From their website:

DUE TO THE UNUSUALLY COOL AND WET CONDITIONS IN JUNE...HERE ARE SOME
INTERESTING FACTS TO NOTE:

THIS JUNE IS TIED FOR THE 8TH COOLEST ON RECORD. THE AVERAGE
TEMPERATURE WAS 67.5...3.7 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL...WHICH ALSO
OCCURRED IN 1897.

THIS WAS THE COOLEST JUNE SINCE 1958...WHEN THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE
WAS 67.2 DEGREES.

BELOW AVERAGE TEMPERATURES OCCURRED ON 23 OUT OF 30 DAYS THIS
JUNE...OR 75 PERCENT OF THE MONTH.

CENTRAL PARK HAS NOT HIT 90 DEGREES IN THE MONTH OF JUNE THIS YEAR.
THE LAST TIME THIS OCCURRED WAS BACK IN 1996.

CENTRAL PARK HAS NOT HIT 85 DEGREES IN THE MONTH OF JUNE THIS YEAR.
THE LAST TIME THIS OCCURRED WAS BACK IN 1916. THIS HAS ONLY OCCURRED
2 OTHER TIMES...1903 AND 1886.
I hope someone in the US Senate is paying attention. Now they can vote against the idiotic "climate change" bill with clear consciences.

Lincoln, Illinois also set a record for coldest July 4th temperature. The high in Lincoln was 68 degrees, breaking the previous record set in 1997 by one degree. So it appears that the efforts of the enviros have paid off, the Earth is cooling and we can all enjoy ourselves.

Well done, Red Team!

Pulling Back From The Precipice

With the U.S. House of Representatives feverishly attempting to ram through a vote on "cap and trade" legislation - which would ultimately be the final straw on the back of our economic camel - I am reminded of the rebellious teenager who, knowing that he is about to go where his parents forbade him from going, beseeches the friend who picked him up to hit the gas before his parents discover the truth. It has become the hallmark of this fledgling administration; get it done as quickly as possible before they [we] know what hit them.

We have been hammered over the head with the bogus findings of the IPCC, which have all been based on computer models that defy direct observations. When questioned by other scientific bodies, the counter has consistently been to paint the opposition as a collection of kooks. Further, the facts and evidence presented by those "kooks" have been buried and silenced. Now there is proof emerging to back up my assertion, and it is causing the same urgency in the democrats to "speed away from the curb" as that of the teenager.

International opinion on the subject is swaying away from the ideals embraced by Al Gore, et al, and the "consensus" once touted by the former vice president and his cohorts at the UN is crumbling faster than a sand castle at high tide. The Wall Street Journal reports today that "the number of skeptics is swelling everywhere" in an article titled, The Climate Change Climate Change. An excerpt:

Among the many reasons President Barack Obama and the Democratic majority are so intent on quickly jamming a cap-and-trade system through Congress is because the global warming tide is again shifting. It turns out Al Gore and the United Nations (with an assist from the media), did a little too vociferous a job smearing anyone who disagreed with them as "deniers." The backlash has brought the scientific debate roaring back to life in Australia, Europe, Japan and even, if less reported, the U.S.

Add to this the discovery by the Competitive Enterprise Institute that the EPA not only suppressed a report contradictory to the Obama administration position, they silenced and subsequently fired the author, Alan Carlin, Senior Operations Research Analyst at the EPA's National Center for Environmental Economics. They provide the internal emails as proof.

Nancy Pelosi was concerned that the vote today on the climate change legislation being considered at this moment was in jeopardy due to anemic support among the members of the dominant party. She decided to drag the bill to the Hill anyway and assumed that she could brow-beat her members into voting yay on it.

The debate on global warming has raged for decades now, but it is only within the last few years that the fear sewn by its proponents has taken hold. With a meticulously orchestrated media blitz - aided and abetted by alleged high profile celebrities like Al Gore and anyone in the entertainment industry - many, many people have been convinced that they are destroying the planet with their greed. When the United Nations IPCC became involved, the deal was sealed for the gullible, and we now find ourselves at the precipice of financial ruin as a result of their collective endeavors.

Brilliantly blending a scientific argument with a political one, the purveyors of panic have managed to obtain massive support for their diabolical plot to destroy America once and for all, most disconcertingly among many Americans themselves. However, a good portion of them are waking up, and Barack Obama has noticed. That can be the only explanation for his imploring congress to "hit the gas!"

Cap & Cha-Ching!

So-called stewards of the environment would have us believe that gluttonous greed and capitalism will be the undoing of planet Earth, and that we must immediately put a leash on corporate big-wigs who are the culprits of it all. Spinmeisters of every stripe - including elected politicians - have unleashed a multi-front war on corporate America and have been quite successful at creating villains that unwitting Americans have giddily set upon in their manufactured outrage.

Never mind that trading carbon offsets will accomplish little more than an exchange of cash in the grand scheme of the welfare of the planetary climate, it is still a bill of goods being thrust upon every American as beneficial, and they're buying it like it's on sale. What many of them don't realize is that the benefit is going to a very few who have built a lucrative market to which they are herding us like so many beleaguered bovines.

Two of the people who are setting themselves up to make king's fortunes are Al Gore and Maurice Strong. Strong is on the board of directors of the Chicago Climate Exchange (hmm, Chicago...), which has been described as “the world’s first and North America’s only legally binding greenhouse gas emission registry reduction system for emission sources and offset projects in North America and Brazil.” Gore is both the chairman and a founding partner in Generation Investment Management LLP, which is a firm that holds considerable influence over the major carbon credit trading firms currently in existence, including the Chicago Climate Exchange.

The collaboration between the two dates back to, appropriately, Earth Day in 1995, when Gore went to give a speech at Molten Metal Technology Inc. in Fall River, Massachusetts. The company claimed to have devised a process for recycling metals from waste. It was also run by Maurice Strong and Peter Knight, Gore’s former top Senate aide and the companies lobbyist. Gore had gone there to sing the praises of Molten Metal as a pioneer in the kind of innovative technology that can save the environment, and be beneficial to investors at the same time. Sound familiar?

The company received $25 million in R&D from the Department of Energy and a subsequent $8 million from federal taxpayer coffers. After Gore's endorsement, the firm's stock on Wall Street went to $35 per share. A short time later, the DOE stopped funding the companies projects due to a lack of commercial viability, and between March and October of 1996, Strong and six other officers in the company sold off $15.3 million in personal shares. On Sunday, October 20th of that year, the company issued a press release stating that DOE funding would all but end, and notified brokers via conference call. The next day when the market opened, the stock plunged 49% to $5 per share.

It was learned in the subsequent lawsuit by angry shareholders that Strong had done something similar earlier with a Swiss company called AZL Resources, artificially driving up the stock prices before bailing out with a fortune.

It gets better. On March 25th, 2009, Fox News Ed Barnes wrote an article titled, Obama Years Ago Helped Fund Carbon Program He Is Now Pushing Through Congress , in which he wrote, in part:

"While on the board of a Chicago-based charity, Barack Obama helped fund a carbon trading exchange that will likely play a critical role in the cap-and-trade carbon reduction program he is now trying to push through Congress as president."
In 2000 and 2001, Barack Obama served on the board of directors of the Joyce Foundation, the above mentioned charity, which gave over $1 million in two separate grants that, according to Barnes, "were instrumental in developing and launching the privately-owned Chicago Climate Exchange".

So, while corporate CEO's are being raked over the coals (no pun intended) for their "excessive greed", we have the triad of Gore, Strong and Obama preparing to tax the living daylights out of us through the punitive cap and trade scheme and enrich themselves at the same time. But when the Earth begins to cool, so will the fervor over CO2, and you can bet your last tank of gas that these three will have long sold off their stakes before the shareholders ever knew what hit them. Meanwhile the poor grunts - the rest of us - will have been driven to poverty.

Mad Science

This whole business of global warming - climate change for you new-agers - is quite confounding. No amount of evidence is sufficient to deter the believers from their destructive course but what's more, they alter course more frequently than a running man under enemy fire. "Serpentine" does not adequately describe the policy movements of the true believers.

The remedies bandied about to combat the scourge of global warming often conflict with previous remedies or embrace actions once considered contributors to the problem in order to...solve the problem. Case in point, the possible method being considered by the Obama administration to cool the planet; shooting pollutants into the upper atmosphere to mimic the cooling effect of volcanic eruptions. What that means is they want to inject sulfur pellets into the atmosphere.

A few decades ago, liberal minstrels composed song after song bemoaning the effects acid rain was having on the waterways of the world, killing fish and algae, destroying ecosystems and the like. The culprit was pollution from factories, sulfur being spewed into the atmosphere by these evil entities. Now John Holdren, Obama's top science advisor wants to repeat that process on purpose. (Bear in mind that Holdren was also the science advisor to Al Gore in the making of An Inconvenient Truth.)

It is an interesting bit of irony that we are told that the sun's fluctuations have little or no effect on the climate but rather that it is man's activities to blame. So why the insane plan to block the sun's rays?

Perhaps the most bizarre aspect of this plan is that it will likely cause more CO2 to remain aloft, since SO2 falling into the oceans in the form of acid rain will have a stunting effect on their ability to absorb CO2. Then again, maybe that's the plan; create measurable increases in CO2 levels in order to more easily sell an increased tax levy on it to the mesmerized masses.

Pill In The Pudding

"The science is settled", we've been told, and if we don't act swiftly and boldly we will destroy the planet through our greed and avarice. Yet, despite the fact that there are now some 700 scientists who protest the notion of settled dispute, the Obama administration is planning a massive cap and trade scheme that is being estimated to potentially cost two trillion dollars, nearly triple the administration's initial estimate.

The entire global warming industry - for that's exactly what it is - is designed to make people feel good about being "responsible stewards" of the environment. No one desires harm to befall our planet, but those who resist the machinations and manipulations of the Al Gores of the world are seen as heretics who actively plot to facilitate our demise.

Of course, like any liberal cause, the cure-all is money, and lots of it. The plan seeks to reduce pollution by setting a limit on carbon emissions and allowing businesses and groups to buy allowances. Cap and trade will generate plenty of money at the expense of virtually anyone who works and breathes. The only ones who will not feel much fiscal pain are the "vulnerable". According to a White House official, the vulnerable will receive free money in the form of "rebates". He said, "Any revenues in excess of the estimate would be rebated to vulnerable consumers, communities and businesses."

There, my friends, is the pill in the pudding. It has been well established that Barack Obama is a redistributionist. He admitted as much to Joe The Plumber during the campaign, and he has been recorded stating his philosophy on more than one occasion. He knows the prospect of overtly taking from the rich to give to the poor is a radioactive notion, so he uses the old trick mothers use to give foul-tasting medicine to their kids.

I applaud anyone who takes it upon themselves to conserve energy if it makes them feel better about their futures, but I beseech them to think about the value of a cap and trade system that will only be implemented here in America, while China, India, and other rapidly developing countries refuse to participate. You are not going to save the planet, but you will aid in the process of making Obama's wealth transfer a success.

Schwinn Gearing Up For Brisk Sales

Now is the time to invest in Schwinn, or any other bicycle manufacturer. It may be the only legal form of transportation in the not-so-distant future.

Barack Obama has named two staunch advocates for vigorous government intervention in regards to anthropogenic global warming; Harvard University physicist John Holdren as presidential science adviser, and Oregon State University marine biologist Jane Lubchenco as head of NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The headline in The Washington Post:

Advocates for Action on Global Warming Chosen as Obama's Top Science Advisers

Alden Meyer, director of strategy and policy for the Union of Concerned Scientists predicts that Obama's science picks will work with Commerce Secretary, Bill Richardson. That is an interesting statement. It has an ominous tone to it because it implies that global warming hysteria may shape economic policy, something we deniers have been warning of for quite some time. With both houses of congress firmly in the grip of democrats, we may all be riding bikes soon. How glorious, to become so Europeanized, just the way California has wished all along.

The numerous scientists who have been laryngitically attempting to stop the madness will be crushed under the wheels of the new regime, and will likely see any funding they have been granted wither on the vine. It will be so much easier to control the debate now.

I wonder how long it will take this cabal to actually destroy our way of life. Only time will tell. I just hope that enough of the people pay close attention. There is little chance we can count on our elected leaders to help.

Obama And Global Warming

Barack Obama is not only aboard the global warming bandwagon, he's about to move into the driver's seat. Another one who insists that, "The science is beyond dispute and the facts are clear. Sea levels are rising. Coastlines are shrinking. We’ve seen record drought, spreading famine, and storms that are growing stronger with each passing hurricane season".

The Reason For The Season

Here we are, in the heart of hurricane season. It's one of my favorite times of the year, conjuring memories of hiding in the basement as a lad, watching Fluffy fly through the air because we forgot to bring her in...ah, to go back to such simpler times. I hope you have all decorated your homes with the appropriate seasonal decorations. It makes the neighborhood so festive for the kiddies. And for the love of God, I hope you used eco-friendly bulbs this year!

I love the theme shows that come with the season, too, because they're not as predictable as say, Christmas Specials, which you can look up in the TV Guide and actually plan your day around. No, Hurricane Specials are more fun because you never know when they're going to pop up on your screen! Spontaneity, that's the spice of life. Not knowing when a special will appear is almost as much fun as waiting for your favorite song to play on the radio.

I know I watch more TV during Hurricane Season because of the uncertainty. My TV is happier, too. When it's out of season, I spend more time on my computer and I get silly error messages all the time:

Just the other day, I was watching a thrill-packed episode of Iron Lung Chef when the show was interrupted by a Special. At first it was a still screen with the station's logo and a voice over telling me that they were sorry to break into my favorite show. (I forgave them because they had no way of knowing that my favorite show is actually '70's reruns of Curio and Hutch, a show about two really cool guys who make the most beautiful furniture). As the still screen faded, I felt the tingle of excitement; the Special was starting!

And there was the star of the Special, a horizontal reporter in a soaked, bright yellow slicker, clinging precariously to a palm tree with one hand and holding the microphone with the other. (I always wondered what the camera guy was holding onto). Speaking to the Anchor back in studio, "Ernie, this is one of the worst you've ever sent me out into! Thanks a lot, pal!"
"Bob, what can you tell us from the scene?"
"Well Ernie, the winds have picked up to 800 miles per hour and the seas are battering the shore. Experts are telling me that Global Warming is to blame."

Ah, a villain! This was going to be one of the best Specials yet. As he continued his tortured report, he told of the conflicts between scientists who have been debating the problem eloquently for a few years.
Scientist 1: "Global Warming will increase the number of hurricanes."
Scientist 2: "Global Warming will decrease the number of hurricanes."
Scientist 1: "Increase!"
Scientist 2: "DECREASE!"

While this was going on, I reluctantly broke away from my lonely TV for the computer. I wanted to see if I could find out for myself what the real deal was. I began scouring the internet for documented proof one way or the other, when another error message popped up on my screen:

Frustrated, I turned off my TV and went out to mow the lawn with my eco-friendly scissors.

-Woody
