Boo For Hollywood

It is only slightly comforting to hear of a handful of conservative actors coming out of the liberal closet, so to speak, but the effect they are having on the overall ideological battle is negligible, providing little more than comfort to those who share their beliefs. The real power still lies in the monolith of the creative machine to shape the opinions of their somewhat hypnotized viewers.

These viewers are, by and large, not political creatures and as such absorb the twisted visions of the purveyors of "entertainment" without an awareness of doing so. It is nearly a subliminal indoctrination, and therein lies the danger. Seeking the simple refuge of fantasy from a tough day in the real world, people are easy targets for messages that may ordinarily run contrary to their own beliefs if they were actively engaged in the debate.

For example, mention Rush Limbaugh or Bill O'Reilly to someone who has never cared to discover for themselves the messages delivered by these men, and they will invariably roll their eyes and say, "Oh, that guy?". This is because they hear the likes of Joy Bahar or Barbara Walters cavalierly complain that talk radio personalities "spew hate".

Combined with liberal writers who cleverly weave into their scripts the same sort of condemnation, people receive a visual enforcement of the false indictment. Case in point: The episode of Law And Order that aired earlier this week revolved around a man who was killing the children of illegal immigrants ostensibly at the behest of a local radio talker. But Law and Order took make-believe a step further.

Actor John Larroquette's character in the show condemns real life radio personalities by name, saying, "Limbaugh, Beck, O'Reilly, all of 'em, they are like a cancer spreading ignorance and hate...They've convinced folks that immigrants are the problem, not corporations that fail to pay a living wage or a broken health care system...". Here is a clip of Bill O'Reilly's reaction to that airing:

Dick Wolf, the shows producer, and his ilk are the one's using an unwitting audience for their propaganda, shaping the opinions of those who are merely seeking some down time and who passively receive the misguided views of the propagandists. The people who listen to talk radio for the purpose of obtaining information do so proactively and are therefore much better informed.

This insidious practice of the left goes virtually unchecked while liberals are actually attempting to silence the rest of us. It is ironic that the denizens of the fantasy world accuse radio talk show hosts of "spreading ignorance and hate", using lies to accomplish their agenda. While there may be an errant whacko on the right who engages in a violent act, violence is an epidemic mainstay of the left.

The Earth Liberation Front (ELF), was responsible for torching millions of dollars worth of SUV's because they wanted to save the planet. (Never mind the toxic fumes from all that burning gas, plastic and rubber). Compare how many liberal demonstrations end in violent clashes with police and property destruction with the number of incidents by conservative protests (Tea Parties).

Some radio hosts go into the streets to interview ordinary people going about their day, and the listener is "treated" to some astounding views. Many young people have clearly been so brainwashed that they think socialism is a great idea. They actually believe that the federal government should give everyone housing, transportation, health care, etc. Many of these people were born after the collapse of the Soviet Union and have no conception of the bleak existence that such a society delivers.

Law and Order's version of America's true problems, along with silly talk shows such as The View is where these kids get their "ideas". Perhaps they would do well to at least be personally exposed to the other side before making such an important decision. It would also be a fine day when conservative actors did not need to live in fear for their jobs.

The Conservative Renaissance Is Here

First, I must qualify the title as it seems to suggest a nefarious collusion between the principles about which this article is designed, which is neither the case nor my intent. I will defend the title, however, on the grounds that the apparent ensnarement of Rahm Emanuel is all the indication needed to conclude that, as inadvertent as the setting of the trap may have been, it yielded the same results of one who would have intentionally set it.

Rush Limbaugh brought the house down at the CPAC convention on Saturday, something I am benchmarking as the beginning of the Conservative Renaissance, and the demise of liberal dominance in the early 21st century. Oddly enough, I also applauded the election of Michael Steele to RNC Chair a few weeks ago, and as fate would have it, he and Rush have become embroiled in a bit of a tiff. What a delight for the main stream media who have made a cottage industry out of misquoting Limbaugh for personal gain.

Michael Steele was being interviewed by CNN's D.L. Hughley on Saturday night shortly after Limbaugh's speech to CPAC. During one exchange, Steele referred to Rush's show as "incendiary and ugly", something that begot an inspired response from the radio host on today's show. Michael Steele was quick to correct himself, saying that he said something he didn't mean. To be honest, I am usually skeptical when someone complains of being taken out of context, but I believe Steele in this instance.

The problem, however, is the reason that he said what he said at all, and that was made abundantly clear in Limbaugh's tirade. Michael Steele found himself in a position with Hughley that - in Steele's mind, at least - compelled him to behave in precisely the manner of which Limbaugh complains where alleged conservatives are concerned; he briefly abandoned integrity for the sake of appearing to understand the left's disdain for Limbaugh.

This has become an unconcious habit amongst conservatives who for too long have felt inferior to - and therefore in need of - a level of acceptance from the left. What Limbaugh has been trying for quite some to time to get across is our ability to rise up and fight, and approval and acceptance by the opposition be damned.

Make no mistake, liberals are the opposition and they have been stepping on our throats for much too long. They rail on about Limbaugh's wish for Obama's agenda to fail, yet they predicted, hoped for, and ultimately claimed that President Bush had failed. At least Limbaugh is honest about it, even as the media deliberately distorts his words.

The reaction of the crowd at the CPAC speech was heartening. Steele's haste in apologizing is also encouraging. The only thing that can keep us down this time is for the Obama administration to suddenly co-opt our philosophy. I am not worried in the least about that ever happening.

Pigs Now Have Wings

Conservatives Protest!

One of the things I never thought I'd see in my lifetime is a conservative protest. That has always been the bastion of the liberals; something I have always scorned yet something that has been very effective for the past 40 years, much to my chagrin. Even in the Clinton era, conservatives were always too busy making things work to take time out to march with placards, while the liberals - despite having complete control during Clinton's first term - still found not only the free time but the necessity to hold demonstrations. (Sidenote: that just proves they'll never be happy.)

Barack Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, et al, have finally succeeded in making pigs fly; conservatives are now finding it necessary to make time to protest, because it's just that damned important.

According to STLtoday.com, "Critics of President Barack Obama's stimulus plan gathered beneath the Arch Friday to cheer speeches over a bullhorn and toss tea into the Mississippi River."
The photo doesn't match the intensity of the original Boston Tea Party, but the organizer of the St. Louis event, Bill Hennessy, estimated that there were more than 1,000 people in attendance. Some will scoff at such a paltry number but you have to remember; this is all new to us.

There is something happening, though, and it's heartening to see it begin so soon after Brack Obama's inauguration. Conservatives are mobilizing with a haste to match the jack-rabbit start this administration has gotten off to, and I am encouraged that our dark horse candidates are preparing for a wonderful showing in 2010 and 2012. Rush Limbaugh spoke at a CPAC conference yesterday and it was an electric performance.

What I am hopeful for is that more politicians on the republican side do the opposite of what Colin Powell and Obama have advised, and that is finally begin listening to Limbaugh. After his speech I am firmly convinced that his direction will be our greatest hope for success in taking back the congress with the ultimate goal of recapturing the White House in 2012.

Rush In The Crosshairs

For a year leading up to the presidential election in November bloggers such as myself have been sounding the alarm regarding the radical left turn our politicians have been making. We shouted in vain that Barack Obama was an unknown quantity save for his unsavory ties to radicals of many stripes. We warned anyone who would listen or read that Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid would lead the charge toward the demise of America as we once knew her, and I continue today and for as long as I remain free.

What is perhaps most frightening is that the efforts of the left are no longer scurrilously clandestine but, rather, are becoming bolder by the day. New York senator Chuck Schumer a few weeks ago, speaking about reviving the so-called "Fairness Doctrine", equated free speech with pornography, something which needed to be regulated by the government. Nancy Pelosi just this past week suggested using tax dollars to fund abortions under the auspices that such "birth control" would benefit the ailing economy. Are we heading down the same path as Red China?

The chilling prospect of our government taking control of every aspect of our lives, from what we eat or drink or smoke, moved even deeper into what we say. While there can be an argument made as to the validity of health care concerns, speech that offends is now becoming the focus of government intrusion. What's worse is when government begins targeting specific individuals.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has posted an online petition to silence Rush Limbaugh, and they didn't have the decency to quote him properly. Here is the video soundbite they used:

I guess they don't pay much attention to how things work or they would realize that anyone with a computer can simply go to Rush's website and either read the full transcript of his comments or listen for themselves.

Some will try to claim that this is an innocuous event, but it should scare the bejeebers out of anyone with cognitive reasoning. When the government trains its crosshairs on individuals at all, it should throw red flags up everywhere. When they attack broadcasters, I get even more nervous.

Fashion trends are often circular, they say. Look for brown shirts and jack boots on the runway this spring.
