Prescription For America And State Run Media

On June 24th, ABC News will surrender its programming to the State and Obama, and I'll make a bet right now that no one will bat an eye. It will be sold as "business as usual", and we'll be told that posts such as this are merely the shrill protestations of right wing lunatics.

Charlie Gibson will broadcast WORLD NEWS from the Blue Room of the White House and the network will be airing a prime time special titled 'Prescription for America' from the East Room. No opposing viewpoints will be permitted, despite the fact that Republicans did request the opportunity. On top of all of this, according to an ABC News report, GOOD MORNING AMERICA, WORLD NEWS, NIGHTLINE and ABC’s web news will all feature special programming on the president’s health care agenda, followed by nine days of promotional programming on ABC hawking the president's attempt to socialize health care.

Speaking to the AMA yesterday, Obama said quite clearly that he didn't want to socialize health care, and pundits picked up that mantra and repeated it as sufficient to allay fears of socialization. But it must be remembered that Obama also made it abundantly clear that he didn't want to own car companies and banks, he would eliminate pork barrel spending - especially in the case of the stimulus bill - and that his would be a "transparent" administration.

Now he owns the car companies and banks, the stimulus bill contained more that 8000 earmarks, and his administration is about as transparent as a slab of concrete. So when he says he doesn't want to socialize health care, brace for all-out socialization. And don't expect that transparency anytime soon, as the administration has refused requests from MSNBC and Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) for White House visitor logs.

CREW will file a lawsuit today against the Department of Homeland Security that accuses Obama of "following the same anti-transparency policy as the Bush administration when it comes to White House visitor records. Refusing to let the public know who visits the White House is not the action of a pro-transparency, pro-accountability administration."

Meanwhile, don't count on hearing about these things from State-run ABC.

First There Is A Mountain

Then there is no mountain, then there is. So said Donovan back in 1967, and so says Barack Obama today. Donovan once said the song was about an experience he had climbing a mountain in Japan. He explained that from a distance, there was a mountain, but when he was climbing it all he could see was ground, no mountain. Then, once atop the mountain, it was there again. Not as deep as some may have thought over the years.

When Barack Obama speaks of the U.S. economy, he saw a mountain, then in May said there was no mountain, but now there is again. We got into this frenzied spending binge - of money we don't have, I might add - as soon as Obama was sworn in, and we haven't slowed a bit. In fact, he now says that we need to spend more phantom money even faster.


A common theme among the mainstream media throughout George W. Bush's eight-year administration was the relentless caterwauling over the budget deficits created by the war in Iraq. The democrats joined the chorus of complaints over the spending on the military, claiming that the country couldn't possibly survive under the weight of such debt. Where are all of them now, those naysayers and opponents of "rampant spending"? Why is there virtually no one on the left pounding their shoe on the desk and demanding that this insane orgy of money burning be stopped at once?

Obama campaigned on the theme that America is a great nation and that he wanted to change it, and I believed him then. I believe him even more so now. America was once as a majestic mountain, rising above the Earth for all to see and admire. Now there is no mountain. Perhaps Obama decided to take the advice of another musician from the same era. Jimi Hendrix wrote, "Well I'm standing next to a mountain, I chop it down with the edge of my hand".

Yeah. Maybe Obama is the Voodoo Child who chops down the mountain.

No Need To Hide

Democrats have long had the tendency to favor socialism, claiming to be the "party of the people" while successfully portraying the Republican party as a menagerie of greedy misers counting stacks of ill-gotten money in smokey closets as children starve and asthmatics choke. Somehow, they have managed to convince a large segment of society that Republicans and conservatives are immune to the hazards of polluted air and poisoned water and use those as weapons against the poor, and that only Democrats cared enough to change the status quo for the betterment of the people.

While traditionally using cleverly disguised rhetoric designed to project an image of benevolence and benign concern, the left is becoming progressively bolder in revealing their agenda. With an increasingly dependent and willing constituency urging them on, there seems to be a sense of consent for liberal politicians to pull the tarp off of the vehicle to socialism and give it some gas. (Of course, the preferred fuel is eco-friendly). In many cases - as evidenced by the election of Barack Obama - that consent is not merely perceived, but actual. That's frightening.

President Obama now says that Wall Street is not going to play as dominant a role in the economy as it once did. In an interview with New York Times Magazine, Obama had this to say:

"That means that more talent, more resources will be going to other sectors of the economy," he said. "I actually think that's healthy. We don't want every single college grad with mathematical aptitude to become a derivatives trader. We want some of them to go into engineering, and we want some of them to be going into computer design."

Career steering was never intended to be part of our government's role. Neither was the takeover of corporations, but that seems to be going swimmingly among the liberal segment of society with only a portion of the right voicing dismay and caution.

For an interesting comparison, let's take a look at some of the goals outlined on the Communist Party website:

Socialism starts with nationalization of the main means of production - the plants, factories, agri-business farms and everything necessary to produce what society needs. The large monopoly corporations and banks come under public ownership, that is, under the collective ownership of the entire working class and people, who have the leading role in building socialism.

Socialism also means public ownership of the energy industry and all the natural resources. It eliminates forever the power of the capitalist class to exploit and oppress the majority.

It has a familiar ring to it, doesn't it? Obama slipped on the campaign trail - most notably in his famous conversation with Joe the Plumber - about his redistributive philosophy. When those gaffes failed to slow his ascent to the White House, and now that people clamor for more free stuff, the path to socialism has been cleared of all obstructions, which means that Obama and the Democrat-controlled congress are rolling full steam ahead. It won't be long before they start rounding us up.

Maybe there is a need to hide after all.

Enemy Of The State: The U.S. Constitution

Much greater men than us long ago took substantial risk and sacrificed so much to make America the greatest country the world has ever known, and they crafted a brilliant document that has endured for over two centuries. Lesser men - and women - have managed to tweak it along the way to make it conform to changing times but thus far it has, for the most part, remained the unwavering protector of our liberty, ensuring that our enslavement to those whom we choose as leaders cannot happen.

These men, the founding fathers, specifically referred to our country as a union; a group of individual states peacefully agreeing to adhere to a common set of standards while reserving the right to individual sovereignty regarding issues of locale. The body overseeing the commonwealth, i.e., the federal government, was intentionally restricted to the role of arbiter in the event of state's disputes. My, how we have sullied such a masterpiece.

"Enemy of the state" is a term often used to label one a traitor to the union, not to describe one who violates a rule of a particular member of that union. Since the constitution clearly enumerates power to the member states of the union while reining in the abuse of power by the federal government, it is obvious that that revered document is now considered an enemy of the state by virtue of its explicit refusal to allow what we are witnessing today. The constitution stands between we the people and the Obama administration and current session of congress.

And so it is little wonder that our elected officials are gleefully trampling on the constitution in similar fashion to William Ayers on the American flag. For them, it is imperative to render the founders' writings archaic in order to achieve the control they now attempt to wrest from the states. To be certain, they began a few decades ago, slowly whittling away at the tenets of the constitution, but now they have released the jack-hammers and are in full destruct mode. I equate it to a long distance runner's second-wind burst to the finish line.

What I find most amazing in the midst of this frenzied and wanton shredding is that the media seem to be taking it all in stride, and many people - way too many, in fact - seem oblivious to it. Yes, there are a few of us left who see it for what it is, but we can't get anyone to listen or see. All eyes have been successfully diverted to the manufactured crises of which we are reminded daily, and the subversive work goes on nearly undetected.

Our only hope is a strong opposition party rising like a phoenix before the ashes go cold. Once that happens, we are finished as that which we once cherished.

We Don't Need No Water...

Each day I grow more confused at the Obama administration's methods of dealing with disaster. Thus far, I have been witness to a spectacle reminiscent of a man yelling "FIRE!" in a crowded theater and then expecting an orderly exodus onto the street. Day after day we are told of the impending collapse of our economy and way of life in what I can only conclude is a concerted effort to frighten us so badly that we'll accept whatever form of remedy Obama and Congress offer up.

Oddly enough, that remedy seems to come from a notion that since the roof is on fire, the solution is to ignite the foundation. For a party that complained bitterly - for eight years - about record deficits, spending in a deep recession seems an utterly odd way of fixing the economy and yet from the moment of Obama's inauguration and the cementing of a democratic trifecta in Washington, our government has laid rubber in making an aircraft carrier full of drunken sailors seem like fiscal conservatives.

The delicious irony is that the White House has released a PDF entitled "A New Era of Responsibility" and subtitled, "Renewing America's Promise". What promise was that, the promise to put an end to our lifestyles once and for all? Was it the promise to murder liberty in America?

Clearly something is wrong when an old liberal like Robert Byrd warns that the machinations of the new administration are a dangerous power grab. Obama once referred to our predicament as being in a bus headed for a cliff, but instead of yanking the wheel to avoid the plunge, Obama has kept his eyes and the wheel fixed straight ahead and has floored the gas pedal.

Aside from his apparent determination to spend us into oblivion, there are other ominous signs of that which Byrd warns, such as the blizzard of "csar" appointments, tax increases and moves to restrict gun ownership. Some members of congress - whether knowingly or not - also seem all too willing to aid in the demise of freedom through various versions of the Fairness Doctrine cleverly masked as something more palatable to the average American.

There has been some faint glimmers of hope from a few republicans recently, but for the democrats' part - as evidenced by Nancy Pelosi's gleeful seal impersonation during Obama's speech this week - there will be no resistance to Obama's ambitious restructuring of America. For as often as he say's that the roof is on fire, the democrats raise their champagne glasses and respond, "We don't need no water, let the mother______ burn".
